Broken in the fun sense of the word. Each character plays extremely different than the rest, enough to justify the small roster. Short yet good story, amazing art and animations, nice ost. A worthy package, even at full price. Back in the MUGEN days this game felt out of place, it was an real piece of art and an actual game in a sea of shitposting and asset ripoffs. Now with a proper engine, rebalance and some visual rework, it stands the test of time as a solid fighting game in this modern era, more than 15 years later from its original release.

An old one but good one. The controls are solid, and many of the finishers are not only brutal but also fun to watch. There's also a watch mode in case you want to run CPU VS CPU tournaments. It's not very often you see games with this look and feel. So really worth a look.

I played around with this game back when it was a mugen game, and even back then these characters set a standard that no other mugen character or game has met. I'm happy to say that's even more evident in this version. Unlockable characters, a joke character, playable boss, full over arching story, fun characters, great art style, it has it all. also the soundtrack hits so good. it's my favorite fighting game and i hope others use this as a benchmark when making their own, mugen engine or not. you owe it to yourself to get this game. also def use peketo to unlock the secret character. trust me.

Surprisingly cute and extremely charming horror themed fighting game with 6 characters initially in addition to 1 unlockable joke character and 2 unlockable boss characters (one of which is clearly not intended to be played normally . It's a 4 button fighter with lots of juggle combos, and a sort of install super for each character similar to dark force from vampire. I might have a hard time getting invested in this game in a competitive sense because there are lots of places where rng is used that significantly detract from the game in my opinion (most notably, shar-makai's dark force which summons ai controlled shar-makais to fight alongside you). Despite this and similar problems, the characters' movesets are generally very well designed and very fun, and there are a lot of moves in this game that I would still consider some of my favorite fighting game moves, to the extent that shar-makai is still my favorite character just by how cool all his moves that *aren't* dark force are. This game also has a lot of fun animations, including character dependent round start animations (in the peketo mirror, their heads are swapped and they toss their heads to each other so that they have the right color palette) and fatal supers which can only be used to kill a low health enemy while you have 3 bars. There are various death animations too which are usually pretty fun, especially ones involving shar-makai. While I've described it as cute, that's not to say it's not genuinely horror themed. The story mode was fun enough for me more so than maybe any fighting game story mode I've played before(which is not many to be fair, and also this is with the caviat that the final boss is more tedious than difficult and so I didn't enjoy that as much even as it was really cool), and had some genuinely pretty horrific artwork. If the horror aesthetic doesn't bother you then I think it's incredibly cute and charming, and if you're actively interested in the horror aesthetic like I am then the fact that I can describe it as "cute" certainly doesn't detract from the horror and you can get quite a bit more of it from the story mode. Disclaimer: This game does not seem to have replay functionality or online play at all? I've heard people talk about playing sets online, though I don't know if they used parsec, remote play, or if they found another way. The game also has a folder that seems to be for replays but I don't think it actually does anything with it. Both of these may be related to the fact that it's based on the MUGEN engine, which I don't know too much about but maybe it means there's a way to play online that I haven't found, or that MUGEN supports replay functionality but this game didn't implement it? I'm not sure. A fighting game without online play is definitely not something everyone is interested in though, so I'd mainly recommend this if you're invested enough in the genre to be exploring games like this, or if there's someone you want to play with locally and just have fun with
