i guess it felt like having another depersonalization episode and watching myself from afar, except instead of thinking "that's not me, i wouldn't say that" there were no thoughts in my head besides "surely i'm not schizophrenic too on top of having borderline, there's no family history for that nor any telling signs", which is to say, despite not hallucinating as she does, ran ibuki is the character i see myself in the most out of any piece of art i've earnestly tried to connect with. looking at a mirror would provide a less accurate depiction of myself than if i were to read this again simply to stare at all the disgusting features we both share; the maddeningly constant yet brief episodes only caused and solved by the thought of the one you love, the weirdly specific coping mechanisms in order to deal with how miserable said episodes feel, the abnormally toxic dependency on the only person you're even able to acknowledge as being worthy of merely existing in your limited little world, the adorably eccentric internal frameworks used to explain the senseless world around you, and finally, the constant choking on your own vomit due to how unbelievably self-absorbed you are. in regards to the other characters, they can all be interesting on their own, but especially when paired with ibuki, considering they were present exactly for her sake. which is no demerit at all, their use as a narrative tool works in tandem with how you end up caring for them just as you do for the hallucinating little mess we both love. as for ann sakura, such a perfect fit for ibuki feels almost inhuman, and in more ways than one, it really is. i guess i envy them. something i was not expecting at all but was pleasantly surprised by was the presence of some very interesting yet underused sci-fi concepts. knowing this novel is part of a bigger universe that is being expanded on through their next novel, which i have not yet read but definitely will, does subside the bitter taste in my mouth from not being able to learn more about those concepts which i found to be so captivating, especially when paired with such beautiful artwork. when it comes to the murder mystery aspect of it, i'm afraid i don't have much to say, they aren't difficult at all and pretty much solve themselves, serving only as a way of exploring some admittedly great character relationships and progressing the story naturally. if i were to say one more good thing about them, it would be that hearing ibuki's thought process, her unexpected expertise in investigating crimes and how she enjoys doing so was endearing. from what i'm aware, this is a very small scale project made by two chinese artists at most and i sincerely wish more people would be willing to give it a chance and support said artists were they to enjoy reading it. the chinese century of lesbianism is upon us, and i shall be the one responsible for spreading the word of its arrival.

How this VN has managed to stay hidden for so long is unfathomable. Best experience = go in completely blind. Don't even finish reading this review. Just see it to believe it. What starts as a fantastical murder mystery plot to figure out who killed the protagonist's girlfriend unravels into an exploration of the psyche and the relations we share with each other. A lucid dream that borders on nightmare. While it encourages you to solve the mysteries on your own, the VN does hold your hand through a lot of it - which is not a con! It breaks down multiple sets of reasoning and helps you get the full picture that readers of any skill level can understand. My only complaint is that it's just too short; if there were only one more chapter to fulfill the last couple of questions floating in my head... though maybe that's the point. If not for the length, this would be my alltime favorite, but as it stands its still a great and worthwhile read. Reader discretion advised: sh*t gets real. Probably the most times I've ever cried to a single VN. Please read it.

I went fully blind into this VN, yet even without expectations I'd never imagined how peculiar this experience would be. It's essentially SFW autopsy gay porn, featuring psychedelic Lovecraftian horror, as well as a concerning degree of mental illness & obliviousness. The game as a whole basically consists of various popular themes clashed together into its own unique character, in my case a highly memorable one. Right from the beginning there's a lot going on, which immediately establishes an intriguing mystery, full of uncertainty & surrealism. Progressing through the plot initially opens even more questions, however eventually slowly introduces the connections. The end reveals still perplexed me, I wasn't anticipating the truth to be THAT esoteric. I adored it, but believe that the pacing towards the end was overly rushed and deserved more in-depth elaboration. The investigation gameplay with the murder mysteries kept me really invested too, besides I found the notebook system engaging and convenient. Additionally, the characterizations are truly admirable, everyone is very well-written and the relationship dynamics are convoluted and interesting! Ran is such an entertaining protagonist. Also the unusual attitudes of the characters towards the events felt very refreshing and greatly contribute to the story's uniqueness. Moreover, the game is visually gorgeous and has excellent soundtrack, maintaining a suspenseful & immersive ambience. There are still aspects I fail to understand, but perhaps it's better this way... I now feel even more brain dead than normally. Thanks, Ran.

I was a bit skeptical at the beginning, even though it begins with an amazing kickstart. For some reason, the way the story was told made me feel I was playing the sequel or spin-off of another game. It was as the story and its mysteries continued to unfold and characters dynamics became clearer and developed that I was genuinely hooked. The last chapter/act was incredible; it finished the story satisfyingly and left me eager to know more about this strange, weird world the story built. The soundtrack is charming; I keep listening to some tracks from time to time. The art was pretty, and it is one of the main reasons the game caught my attention.

If you're into toxic codependent yuri while also solving murders on the side (note on the SIDE, this is not the main focus) then pick this one up. The beginning starts out pretty slow but it is completely worth it to see the whole story unfold. I really want to know more about this world and it's characters.
