April 2025
For me, Skyrim was never just about saving the world from Alduin. It was about getting lost, again and again, in one of the most beautiful open worlds gaming had ever seen. Every time I started a new game, I told myself, "This time, I'm going to stay focused on the main quest." And every time, within minutes of stepping out of Helgen, I would find myself wandering off the path. A strange ruin on a hill, a flickering cave entrance, a distant mountain peak calling to me — there was always something just a little more interesting than my supposed destiny. I wasn’t Dragonborn; I was a professional side-quester, a full-time wanderer of Skyrim’s endless wonders. This cycle repeated for years. I played Skyrim on PC, on console, with mods, without mods. Each time, the story of Alduin waited patiently, untouched, while I chased butterflies, cleared forgotten tombs, or spent hours just watching the northern lights dance across the sky. It wasn't until 2022, 11 years after the game's original release, that I finally did it. I stayed (mostly) on track, fought my way through Sovngarde, and stood victorious over Alduin. It felt surreal, like finishing a chapter of my gaming life that had been open for over a decade. Skyrim had been my escape, my adventure, my second home for so long, it almost felt wrong to see its main story finally come to an end. But that’s the magic of Skyrim. It’s not just a game you play; it’s a world you live in, one slow journey at a time.

This is the original Skyrim for PC. There are so many legacy mods that are available for this version that just never made it into Anniversary edition, but enough time has passed to where there are mods that are available for Anniversary edition and not for this one, AND the Anniversary edition ones are being updated. I'd say look at the lists and decide for yourself which one you would prefer. Tbh, both versions play the same lol. I just keep this one around because Steam has hidden the link to this version despite still supporting it on Steam.

The best. Better than the rest. Well actually Oblivion and Morrowind are quite amazing, but this one always has a special place in your heart from the moment you are in the carriage on the way to be executed.

Played this game since the release 11/11/11. Still one of the best gamed ever made on its kind and other games. Its like second home. I live there since 2011. My Top 10 best game ever made. From xbx to ps4 to PC. bought the game 3 times. On PC you can mod whaterver you want and make the game more fun on your own way. Also u can download 'mods'via Ps4 but I play the game vanilla on PS4. Love the game. can't wait for Elder scrolls 6. I started the series with Oblivion when I was a kid.

Spent more time modding and playing this game than I did going to school. I think when I die scenes of skyrim will flash before my eyes and I will be at peace 10/10 virtually unplayable without mods
