July 2025
Just finished Area 17 and U.S.S. Anomaly and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this game is super fun. The first Escapists game felt a bit clunky and in my experience prison escapes were incredibly hard. Maybe they weren't so hard per se, but rather that the game did not communicate escape plans properly, so you would almost certainly screw up in some part unless you were reading a guide about it. They solved it all in this game. The tutorial does a superb job at explaining the main basics to escape prisons, but what really makes you get good at escaping are the brand new Transport Prisons - These prisons only last a day and you should escape them as soon as possible while avoiding the guards. Here you'll learn in real practice how to beat them up, how to craft and how to gather items to escape in real prisons. My favorite prison has got to be Rattlesnake Springs, not only I loved the whole Western style to it, but also the fact that the escape routes are super creative but not difficult. Back in the previous game you usually had to dig a long hall and keep placing supports to escape via digging. In this prison there's a whole mine beneath it, so all you have to do is to dig into the mine itself, break a few walls and you will find a tunnel that leads directly to the exit. The diffculty curve for the prisons are something that I actively complained in the previous game, and now I'm actively praising in this game - They did an incredible job. Haven't played myself with another friend but it is so damn cool that there are multiplayer escapes, not only it encourages playing the game with your friends but also it is another new route for escaping in the game. And damn, most multiplayer escapes are really thought of, like that UFO escape in Area 17! I kinda wish I could do that one escape on my own haha I would say that my only pet peeve of this game is the cringey Youtuber names that you cannot change in any way. I get it, it helps getting more people into the game but God... It breaks my immersion while I'm playing and out of a sudden a guard with the name "DiddyDisciple" appears, at least let me turn it off or something. Still, an incredible game that I recommend for just about anyone that wants a new unique experience. Prison escaping is a genre that I love, kinda wish there were more (good) games like it.

Hella funny game. I highly recommend with friends. I was playing a little bit ago with 3 of my friends on a map and we couldn't get out so one of my friends decided that digging out under the electric fence was a good idea. We spent 3 hours on that map dying over and over, my friend who was digging the tunnel started to go crazy cause we weren't out yet, like when we needed just 1 more lumber than we had anticipated he started to laugh hysterically, he laughed even more hysterically when we finally escaped, it was hilarious.
