First playthrough review time. The drawings in this game have a hand-drawn look that stands out. The music is orchestral and the English voices are clear for the different people you meet. Because the story is told from a younger point of view, the events move at a slow pace that might be hard for an adult to stay interested in. To move forward, you have to find items and use them on people or objects. Later on, you get to use specific powers to help you progress. There is also a card game included, which adds a different activity to the main tasks. Some of the puzzles might be hard to finish because the solutions often require strange steps that do not follow a simple logic. In conclusion, the title is a solid choice that works for many different people. It has a magical look and nice quality sound that makes the game stand out. Even though the story might be slow at times and some solutions are confusing, the way the game is put together is still good. It is a plain example of this style that stays the same from start to finish.

TL;DR: A beautiful, atmospheric puzzle-adventure that feels like a dark fairytale. It’s a genuinely charming experience, even if the ending leaves you craving a bit more depth. Whimsical World-Building: The art style is gorgeous, it truly feels like stepping into a storybook. The world of Mousewood is one of the most well-realized settings in any point-and-click game. Solid Mechanics: If you’ve played other Daedalic games, you’ll feel right at home. The puzzles are logical but satisfying, and the "magic" mechanics add a nice layer of variety to the traditional inventory-based gameplay. That "Wanting More" Feeling: While the game is very decent and well-paced, you can't help but feel that the lore is so rich that the game ends just as you’re becoming truly invested in the deeper mysteries of the world. It’s a journey that feels like it could have supported a longer runtime or a more expansive sequel. The Atmosphere: The soundtrack and the voice acting do a heavy lifting here, creating an immersive, slightly surreal vibe that sticks with you long after you’ve 100%ed it. Verdict: A lovely, polished experience for any adventure fan. It isn't as loud or "jerk-ish" as Deponia, but it has more soul. Even if you find yourself wanting more by the time the credits roll, the 10-15 hours you spend in Mousewood are time well spent. Unless you spend 25 to 100% it too, haha.

"I just wanted to chase a white rabbit. Instead, I found a piece of my childhood." The Night of the Rabbit is what happens when a fairy tale decides to get philosophical. You start off expecting a charming little adventure — a boy, a talking rabbit, a magical forest — and before you know it, you’re knee-deep in a story about time, memory, and the bittersweet ache of growing up. Visually, it’s stunning. Every screen looks like it was painted on the edge of a dream. The world feels alive — not loud or busy, but softly breathing, like it’s waiting for you to notice its details. And the music? Pure magic. It’s the kind of soundtrack that could calm a thunderstorm. Gameplay-wise, it’s that classic Daedalic balance: gentle puzzles, quirky humor, and moments where you accidentally combine a spoon with a frog and somehow progress the story. But the heart of it all is its tone — a quiet reminder that wonder isn’t just for kids, and that stories can be both kind and cruel in the same breath. By the time the credits rolled, I felt that strange mix of joy and melancholy you only get from finishing something truly special. It’s not just a game — it’s a gentle goodbye to innocence, wrapped in a forest full of whispers. Followed the rabbit, found myself instead...

"The Night of the Rabbit" is a charming game for children and nothing more. Daedalic Entertainment tries again at the whimsical fantasy genre after "The Whispered World" with mixed results. The "Whispered World" had a more German children's book feel to it akin to Brothers Grimm or Neverending Story, "The Night of the Rabbit" is more like British children's book stories like Peter Pan or Alice in Wonderland. - While it has a much better story and likable characters, the quality of life downgrades as well as insane moon logic choke this game's beauty. At this point Daedalic had such games as "Edna & Harvey: The Breakout", "A New Beginning", "Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav and the entire "Deponia" trilogy under their belt. They are in no way amateurs in this genre! Yet with this game it feels like one step forward, two steps back! While I praise the art style, music and plentiful voice acting of this game, it suffers from grievous developer decisions that turn this game arduous but in an annoying way. The characters are VERY chatty and keep yapping relentlessly, the worst offender being the main character. He just has to give his two cents about everything in excruciating detail. I was bashing the skip key as there was nothing of importance said and a lot was repeated. I was constantly yelling at the game "just STFU!" What ABSOLUTELY KILLED it for me is that the voice lines were recorded with a 6-10 second intervals between each other, so the game stretched on and on. Were they trying to artificial prolong this game or what? Howlongtobeatcom claims this game is around 10 hours long, but I think most of it is this kind of padding.. The reason I say this game is for children is because it is clearly aimed at that audience unlike lets say "A New Beginning" or "1954 Alcatraz" which can be enjoyed by all ages. This German game is made for German kids in the 8-14 age range that are stuck in a "Kinderhort" (a kind of daycare for primary school kids) and are playing on retro Beige box computers. I would know, I was stuck in one of these ♥♥♥♥ holes. The moon logic was not as bad in the beginning but the further you progress, the wilder it gets. It gets so bad that at some points it literally bottlenecks your progress until you randomly find the correct NPC to talk to. No matter how smart you are, logic won't help you. You are literally expected to COMB through the entire game multiple times. It would be OK if it was once or twice, but after the half-point I started using a guide and never in my wildest dreams could I come up with these ridiculous solutions! Of all the Daedalic games, this one takes the cake of worst moon logic puzzles, even worse than Whispered World. Another killer was the final boss fight would SOFT-LOCK you!!! No wonder they implemented a skip feature! They knew it would soft lock most players and instead of fixing it, gave it this band-aid?! Wow... The reason this game does not get an automatic Negative review from me is because of this band-aid (which they SHOULD have done in 1954 Alcatraz as well ffs!) At the end of it all, this game was not my cup of tea. Even for its genre, the story is the only thing holding this game together. Night of the Rabbit IS better than the Whispered World, that alone makes it above average. While I personally may dislike this game for good reasons stated above, I won't deny its beauty and charm.. Try it if you are a hardcore adventure games fanatic, but I'd rather replay Edna three times over! P.S. Oh ffs, I still have "Pillars of the Earth (2017)" and "State of Mind (2018)" to complete. Hopefully Daedalic improved a lot, otherwise no wonder the company died after releasing "Gollum"...
