I enjoyed this game and had fun and felt I used my time well, the hunting was fun and I was always afraid the creature was around and it definitely deserves a sequel based on the lab we never found....my guess is the lab is under the meat locker as its the only electric light in the game.
Honestly, a great game! **The Pale Mimic** felt genuinely unique, and I can’t think of another horror game that made me feel like I was playing something similar. I absolutely loved the sound design and, of course, the dog! The whole experience was memorable, creepy, and refreshing. Definitely recommend checking this one out! This is a very slow burn type of game and many people will not like it. I personally really enjoyed it. I loved the oppressive atmosphere, even if 'nothing' happened, I was on edge every time I left the cabin. I love Rocky and of course you can pet the dog! The story, while a little goofy at times, is put together in an interesting way and if you find all the story bits, you get a bit extra at the end-nothing earth shaking, but a nice touch. However I'm pretty sure that is not how Lyme disease works at all This game taught me something about Lyme disease I didn't know! It is kinda weird that the final showdown, so to speak, isnt interactive at all. Maybe a qte would have helped here? idk Anyway it was a fun 'trapped in a cabin with your dog and a weird creature stalking you' game, that didn't overuse its enemy. I feel like if I had had to run away from the creature each time I went outside it would have gotten annoying real quick and I commend the creator(S?) for resisting that. If you like chill, slow burn horror set in Alaska and have a couple hours, you may like this. Also the 100% was pretty chill and it has chapter select for any clean up :)
This is a passion project, and it truly succeeds in that aspect. Spoiler, developer made this game for their dog, which is heartwarming in and of itself, despite the Alaskan winter theme of the game. I immediately recognized the cabin, but I didn't care. The story was amazing, I let myself get enveloped into it. I felt for Rocky, and did everything I could to look out for him. Pet him every chance I got, threw the ball, and just looked after him with love and respect. Where it lacked in sense of danger towards you, lied instead the sense of danger towards your companion. When this game first started out, I quickly realized the task at hand, which for me, was to protect Rocky over myself. Save the dog at all costs. Which in turn made me fear the creature and the possible discovery of my location by the feds 10x scarier. The creature may be jank, but nevertheless just the threat of something out there capable of hurting Rocky put me on constant surveillance over him, in and out of the cabin. Rare for a game to put me in this kind of mindset, and for that I award the developer. Definitely recommend this passionate game, even at base price.
The Pale Mimic only just came out the other day, and after playing it I properly loved the atmosphere, the detailing, the nice graphics and the story. Yeah it’s a short one, and it can drag a bit at the start cos there aren’t really any big jump scares, but it’s so vibey and atmospheric. Really enjoyed the plot and the ending, and especially that dog - proper cute, beautiful husky. Highly recommend everyone gives this one a go.
