I would call The Pedestrian an immersive puzzle game if such term existed - sure, the puzzles are good, but the presentation is done in a memorable way that really makes you interested about where this whole thing is going. The soundtrack is excellent and the way that you go from puzzle to puzzle - while pretty much exploring a city - keeps you engaged until the end of its 5-hour-long story. So, the atmosphere is exceptional here and interestingly, I think it is really the last few puzzles that the game needed more of. Without spoiling anything, the last sections of the game do turn things upside down so to speak - and I wished there was more of those sections. Nevertheless, if you enjoy puzzle games which not only focus on the puzzles themselves but the overall presentation and atmosphere, then you really cannot go wrong with The Pedestrian. It is an easy recommendation, even at full price!
This was such an enjoyable experience! It's a well-designed puzzle platformer. Quite unique aesthetics. It reminded me of "The Witness". Almost no text, everything explained through the gameplay. Pretty visuals. Puzzles that gradually introduce new mechanics. And such a calm soundtrack that fills in the gaps but also gets out of the way when you're trying to focus. Took me 2½ hours to complete it. No missable achievements. Full gamepad support, but also playable with keyboard and mouse. In fact, in some sections I decided to use the mouse.
The Pedestrian is a solid puzzle game that exercises your brain for a good time (5 hours in my case), and if too nerve-straining you can do a few at a time then break. There is no story in this game, but the environment transitions do bring good fun journey, and quite an effective surprise at the end although being brief, elevated by very colorful graphics (albeit simple) and lovely music. That being said, some levels can be obtuse or ambiguous - first with the puzzle pieces already being eye-straining to see, recognize and understand where your direction should be at times, second comes the Gates and I do hate their clunky, unintuitive implementation, then third some require you to take advantage of game mechanics such as resets, that when them combined together it will be quite a headache of sequence you need to follow or you have to start over. While I understand the colors have to be monotone to fit game theme & designs, devs should add QoL such as different colors to mark special items - key, wirerolls, exit doors, better highlight color for puzzle pieces or device wirings. Anyway, there are plenty room to expand game idea alongside new mechanics, even level editor, so if there is DLCs or sequel in development, I would be looking forward to it. Final Rating: 8/10
