Tl;Dr: The Precinct is a solid and immersive police _simulator_ with really nice graphics, art style, voice acting and ambience. There are some issues and annoyances, but none of them force you to put the game down. All in all Fallen Tree Games did a really great job with this one. Thanks for the hard work and i'm looking forward to future updates! (+DLC?) Some positives: - Tackling fleeing suspects catapult in a really comical way, watching backup do it too is also hilarious - Random events happening around you are really cool and immersive - If you ignore a callout, but head to the location anyway, normally you will still find the crime being committed, again really nice immersion - Criminals with guns are really trying to kill you, making dealing with shootouts challenging and gratifying to resolve. - LISTEN to the game, you will hear alarm bells when there's a burglary happening nearby, shooting when there's a shootout and people screaming when they're being mugged. Really, really nice touch. *Kelly (if you have him with you) will even comment on being able to hear these things - extremely well thought out feature. - The later street races, time trials and safety box codes can be genuinely challenging to win gold / work out, not just hollow side quests. - Driving your car back to the precinct with arrestees in the back will prompt officers standing outside to come and grab them and take them inside, you'll still get the +250 for booking them yourself too - "Press X to read rights", never gets old. - Developers are active and releasing QOL patches Some other people have commented on issues with partner not chasing criminals or booking suspects but this seems to have been patched by the time i picked it up, partner and reinforcement officers arrest anyone as long as they catch them, they'll also book them themselves if you cuff them and pursue other suspects, as long as they're around. Some comments / feedback in case the devs see this though; 1. Getting into / out of a vehicle will re-equip your pistol every time, rather than remember your previous selection. 2. Police van is really cool but you can still only fit 2 in it, would be cool if it had increased capacity over other vehicles. 3. Some of the cars (Police 4x4, for example) have a really weird 'friction' when accellerating from standstill, seems really odd, feathering the throttle (thinking it might've been wheelspin) does not help unfortunately (making some cars basically too annoying to bother choosing them over something else). 4. Backup system is really good but when dealing with gang shootouts it's not possible to call backup unless you kill or arrest someone, lest you get shot before you manage to. Maybe the reinforcements meter could gradually increase over time as long as you're in the vicinity, or jump up if you get shot enough? This has been patched! 5. You can't immediately arrest someone if you taze them, as they just sort of 'jolt' standing up - once it wares off you need to keep tagging them until you wear down their energy until they throw their hands up. Making it far easier to simply wait and tackle them when they start running again. Really think this could be easily fixed if they dropped when you taze them. 6. Accidentally tazing someone who throws their hands up in the middle of a pursuit ends with immediate failure and resets you as if you died. For this specifically, i really think it'd be better if it just slapped you with the -150 for police misconduct and lets you carry on with the arrest... 7. If you enter an event (like a race or time trial) while you have arrestees in your car, they will disappear since the world is re-loaded. I do get it but maybe a warning that it's going to happen wouldn't go amiss (for those that don't know better) 8. If you call an escort to pickup someone you arrest, you don't get the +250 for their eventual arrival to the precinct, unless you're in the vicinity and you watch as they're escorted inside. I kind of understand this one but still feels a bit like a punishment for not doing anything wrong... You DO get +50 for calling an escort but wonder if that's enough? 9. If anyone but the player books the suspect at the precinct, you don't see if you missed any committed crimes... Would be cool if it showed up as part of the report when you're done resolving. 10. You get penalised if you fail to carry out certain actions when you're arresting someone - Like breathalising someone. If they don't smell of alcohol, why would should I? I really think the points should be based on how you did given the evidence that is presented to you - Does a driver smell like alcohol? Yes - Breathalise and book for DUI, If you don't breathalise, but book for DUI, penalise for lack of evidence? This has been patched! I know some of these are nitpicking, but if just 1 of them are even considered i really think this game could be A++ (Even though it's already definitely an A+)

It's a solid game, but it made me realize how badly I want a third-person (or even first-person) open-world action-adventure police game with a gritty, dark tone. It's kind of wild that it has never really been made with an AAA budget. Imagine you have an open world where you can go around stopping crimes, from petty to major crimes, and then also have a full-on campaign story about taking down major crime syndicates. Why hasn't anyone made this? Anyway, in this game, there are some good and some bad. The open world is pretty cool, and they have a wide variety of crimes you get to stop. The tone is that you are a complete Boy Scout, though, where I would have preferred a morally gray tone. The game immediately stops and forces you back to a checkpoint if you do anything unbecoming of a straight-edge police officer. Even if you are dealing with a POS criminal. The story itself is also very bland and unimaginative. The story is also a little too happy/upbeat, considering you are a cop in a crime-ridden city that is run by gangs. It just feels a little too Disney, I guess, and doesn't match the subject matter at all. Regarding the gameplay itself, it's pretty fun overall. Combat ranges from some light melee situations to full-on shootouts. You get a revolver, taser, and baton to start. From there, you can upgrade to better weapons and equipment. The shooting is kinda rough to be honest, but it's manageable. That can often be the case in isometric games, but I would say it's even a bit worse here. I would also have liked to see a crouch button and a reload button. Unless I somehow missed those, they oddly do not exist. Lastly, getting into cover is implemented poorly. It works sometimes and doesn't at others. This is a huge issue when you are in a major shootout and your character is just standing there like an idiot right next to the covered position while you are slamming the cover button. That is something that can be improved with a patch, however. All in all, I do recommend it if you have always wanted a game that puts you in the shoes of a police officer. This is probably the best one out there. That said, it often had me wanting a game that doesn't exist or thinking of ways I wish they had handled things differently. It's a solid 7/10.

The Precinct – Neo-Noir Nostalgia with Some Growing Pains Hours Played: ~12 Progress: A little over halfway through the main storyline The Good Aesthetic & Atmosphere: The game nails the old-school neo-noir vibe. Feels like a spiritual cousin to L.A. Noire with a modern indie twist. Storyline: So far, the narrative is immersive and keeps me engaged. General Vibe: It's refreshing to play a cop game that leans into style and mood over pure action. What Needs Work Driving: The vehicle handling is way too loose. Hitting a curb spins you out and you often lose suspects in chases. I’ve done more damage to the city than the criminals at this point 😅 Tackling AI: Sometimes when I tackle a suspect, it just doesn’t register and they keep running. Not sure if it’s RNG or just a bug. Active Call Interference: I’ve had other criminals rob my suspect while I was in the middle of arresting them. Once I’m on a call, random crimes should chill out. Partner Usefulness: In crimes with multiple suspects, if they split up, I can only get one. My partner won’t even search a dumpster — he just gives up and says they got away. That lost XP hurts. Wishlist Improved driving physics Smarter partner AI with actual functionality More crime variety and mission depth Expanded city areas Uniforms, maybe car customization? Final Thoughts Even with these flaws, I’m really enjoying The Precinct . The potential is huge, and I’m excited to see how it develops. The devs clearly have a vision — they just need to tighten the mechanics. This game scratches an itch I didn’t know I still had. Recommended? Yes – if you’re okay with some jank and want a unique cop experience with major promise.

After 100%ing this game I would say that it's worth the price. I'm glad that it doesn't overstay its welcome with the story as it would eventually get repetitive if they did drag it out another 5 - 10hrs. My only issue that I had was one of two things. First is that Kelly is slow af but that can be solved by just driving off as he will teleport back into your car anyway. The other thing is that if you pull cars over for a traffic stop, they won't pull over slowly to the side but instead stop on a dime and you'll ram straight into the back of them lol I would definitely look forward to some DLC or to a sequel.
