+ Very good art style and story telling + Stunning visual + Above average puzzles - Boss gameplay is very frustrated, too hard for casual gamer - Voiceover is subjectively not immersive - Game performance is not fully optimized A remarkable horror gem from Vietnam, every element, from its haunting storytelling to its stunning visuals, is beautifully crafted. The final chapter is still in the making

Fantastic horror elements combined with an authentic Vietnamese atmosphere. The game seems barebones at first - but the more you progress, the more surprised you will be to how deep and rich the narrative is. Yes, the game is scary. But if you understand Vietnamese...the game is TERRIFYING. Overall: 5/5

I’ve really enjoyed The Scourge | Tai Ương so far. The atmosphere is incredible - moody, immersive, haunting - and honestly unlike anything I’ve played in a long time. The world feels alive in a deeply eerie, subtle way. It’s the kind of game that pulls you in quietly and holds you there with a tension you can feel in your chest. That’s why the jumpscares didn’t work for me. They felt unnecessary, like the game didn’t trust how terrifying it already was. It doesn’t need loud noises or cheap shocks. The silence? The stillness? That’s what really hits. Sometimes the scariest sound is no sound at all and this game already knows how to haunt without ever needing to scream. Besides that? For me, it’s an 11/10. I also loved the mechanic where you have to check the clocks and note what you experienced. It felt creepy in the best way ..somehow familiar but quietly unsettling.

I had to refund the game because it was unoptimized. I am using an RTX 4060 but I have to turn off all the settings for this game to be playable. This made the horror aspect less scary because there were less post processing effects at play. The game itself is pretty neat. I love the waking up after a dream and completing tasks aspect. I wish it wasn't so linear, like some random number of clocks will be broken and you have to physically set the time. But it is still very impressive. I also like the graphics and the attention to detail of Vietnamese culture. This made the game immersive (minus the graphics I had to turn off). One of the puzzles of uncovering a code is very clever and made me feel smart. I also like the hide and seek aspect, too. What I really don't like about this game is the inventory system. It feels like there's a set number of items in each dream and you have to collect everything to progress. This makes the game feel more like a looter simulator. I'd often find myself being stuck in a room asking myself "where is this last ?" so then I need to spam click on every little thing until something gets collected. In my opinion, collecting hidden things should be some extra reward, not the core premise behind progression. Especially in a horror game, where one minute out of ten I am in suspense, and the next nine minutes I am trying to find items in my environment.
