"It puts the staple in its skin or else it gets the innuendo again" It's no secret that I dig PSX style horror. The genre is a staple in my gaming diet. I had hoped The Skin Stapler would be a solid meal, but it's more of a brown sugar pop-tart from the vending machine, not bad, but not my favorite. On the surface this reminded me of a Puppet Combo game, but I didn't hold onto that throughout my playthrough. The Skin Stapler is uniquely itself for better or worse and that should be considered before jumping in. If you're expecting an experience akin to the former, this might not be for you. The game starts off strong, the first few chapters had me feeling like I was in for a treat. The soundtrack is good, the antagonist passes the vibe check for an interesting killer, ♥♥♥♥ Slater is quite cliche, yet endearing, and the puzzles aren't terrible (save for the last aftermath chapter, it was a little obtuse finding the last clue). I genuinely wanted to learn more about our antagonist and see how the story unfolded. Unfortunately the game is marred by a few key flaws. I'm not above any humor. I can get a laugh out of most things, but the over reliance on sexual innuendos overstayed their welcome. The glizzy guzzlers were funny the first couple of times, but by the time I got to the donut handjobs I was over it. As many reviews have mentioned the game starts to lean heavily into "Did you see that, chat?" streamer slop territory. Following the stale humor, the gameplay loop becomes a bit too formulaic, complete menial job tasks, die, investigate the killing, rinse, and repeat. With the short runtime it's not awful, but if you were expecting more from the game you'll be disappointed. With the launch discount it is a bit easier to stomach the blow, but at full price it's a limp recommend. Tainted Pact put some love into this and I appreciate the artistry and nods to some of their other titles. For most I would say wait for a sale around $8. Even with the flaws there's enough skin staplin' fun to make it worth a playthrough.

really fun game! i really liked that the game swaps you between different characters so that tasks never feel redundant. i wish there was more gameplay of ♥♥♥♥ and Robbie together so that the ending part could have more meaning. it'd be awesome if there were multiple endings. for example, after completing the game and having all the knowledge of the story, you can go back and save all the characters. it would really take the game to another level. i think in the future, it'd be better to not kill off every woman possible in the cast. it creates a weird narrative, especially when it doesn't really contribute to the plot and those characters could have been men as well.

Thank you for making this game 🖤 I had such a stupid amount of fun with it, but what stuck with me the most was just how much personality it has!! D. Slater is an absolute ICON, the puns were painfully good (i hate that they made me laugh soo much 😭🤣) Carrion City is a dump (affectionate) and i absolutely loved the character designs! Coming back to the office and reading your note also genuinely made me smile. This is exactly why i adore the indie scene. Weird, passionate, memorable and made with so much heart. Keep being an absolute gremlin and making games like this, i'll remember Carrion City for a long time 🖤😭 P.S. ROBBIE, THE LEGEND THAT YOU ARE

Skin Stapler is such a fun game! It really reminds you of old classic horror movies with a bunch of cheesy, sexual humor added into the mix. I was able to finish it in one sitting and can easily say I was immersed in it the entire time, at no point did it ever get boring or repetitive! Highly rec this game if you're into gruesome killers and lots of investigation!!
