The game is pretty cool. Unfortunately, the achievements seem to cause this game to try and lock up my computer. I did the following and got the game to work: 1. go to properties->betas and choose "compatibility" 2. go to the game's location at "steamapps/common/The Swapper" and then rename "steam_api.dll" to "steam_api.dll.bak" to disconnect the game from steam. (achievements will not be obtainable) 3. run the game directly by using "TheSwapper.exe" Worth playing for the art, puzzles, and story. Sadly, the game has fallen to disrepair.

I was lucky that the game was still on an old laptop and I was able to play it. The game can't cope with today's hardware and the mouse bugs. Unfortunately, I can't confirm whether an older operating system helps or whether I was lucky, so be warned. I can't give the game a bad review though. The mechanics are great and I enjoyed the puzzles. The atmosphere is just right, but I was a bit annoyed by how slow the game felt.

To use mouse: In Steam go to game properties > Betas > enable Compatibility. Great puzzle platformer, you need keys to progress to new areas, but there's no item unlocks after the intro, so your second layer of progression is mastering the Swapper tool. 6-hour story for me. The claymation art style is really cool.

The Swapper is an excellent puzzle game made by Finnish indie devs. The puzzles are competently crafted and the story is surprisingly deep! By competent I mean the puzzles leave little room for cheesing and it is impossible to soft lock your progress. For nerve-racking puzzle games that is always appreciated! The swapping mechanic offers a unique perspective that only becomes more demanding as new dimensions are added. The story asks very deep psychological and philosophical questions about humanity and consciousness. If you are familiar with the "Ship of Theseus" paradox, then you get the gist of The Swapper. What would you chose, to stay alive or to keep your identity for a precious few more seconds? Will you give up Everything for survival just because natural instincts dictate so, or will you preserve your amassed knowledge and memories that make you who you are, but you will perish today. For a project made by 2 students in their free time, this is an extraordinary achievement! Amazing game. Must play for puzzle game lovers.
