Yes, really good puzzle game. Because I'm good at it. If I wasn't, it would be a really bad puzzle game obviously :) Jokes aside, some puzzles can have BS that you only figure out because of pure accident. Or you don't think you have to "force" a part of the puzzle but you do. I've completed up to like "world 5" or whatever so far. The only one that was a head scratcher so far was the one where the you have to guide the exploding robot up multiple flight of stairs, which are at 90 degree angles, so at first you don't think the robot can go that way to explode the turret. On that map there was also some BS where you have to grab a not-so-obvious laser, but the grab only works WITH ONE HAND. There was another puzzle where I had to exit out the game to teleport outside, because otherwise you are stuck.

One of my favorite games of all time, well done for virtual reality -- what's not to love? It's so cool to revisit and play through the game again with the added sense of presence in the game world and the ability to look around and grab at items naturally that VR facilitates.

The Talos Principle VR is a remarkably thoughtful adaptation of an already cerebral puzzle game, transforming a philosophical journey into something far more intimate by placing the player physically inside its world. Developed by Croteam VR and published by Devolver Digital alongside Croteam Publishing, this version preserves the identity of the original while using virtual reality to enhance its sense of presence and contemplation. Rather than reworking the experience into something flashy or action-oriented, the VR edition respects the game’s slow, reflective pacing, allowing its philosophical themes to breathe in a space that feels tangible and immersive. At its core, The Talos Principle VR is still about logic, curiosity, and the quiet satisfaction of understanding a system well enough to overcome it. The familiar laser-based puzzles, jammers, connectors, and force fields are all present, but interacting with them through motion controllers subtly changes how they feel. Picking up objects, aligning beams with your own hands, and physically stepping around puzzle spaces adds a sense of embodiment that flat-screen play can’t quite replicate. Solutions feel less like abstract manipulations and more like deliberate actions taken within a real environment, which strengthens the player’s connection to each challenge. Importantly, the game offers multiple locomotion options, including teleportation and smooth movement, making it accessible to a wide range of VR comfort levels and allowing longer puzzle-solving sessions without unnecessary fatigue. The environments benefit tremendously from the transition to VR. The Talos Principle has always been visually serene, blending ancient ruins with futuristic technology, and standing inside those spaces amplifies their emotional impact. Massive stone structures feel genuinely imposing when you can look up at them, while quiet gardens and sunlit courtyards invite moments of stillness between puzzles. These pauses are not just aesthetic; they reinforce the game’s themes of reflection and self-awareness, encouraging players to think about the questions posed by the narrative voice guiding them. VR turns these environments into places you inhabit rather than scenery you pass through, deepening the meditative quality that defines the experience. Narratively, the VR version remains faithful to the original game’s philosophical ambitions. The story unfolds through a combination of spoken guidance, written terminals, and environmental storytelling, gradually exploring ideas about consciousness, free will, faith, and what it means to be human. Experiencing these elements in VR adds an unexpected layer of intimacy, especially when you are physically standing in front of terminals reading fragments of past conversations or ethical dilemmas. The questions feel less hypothetical when they’re encountered in a space that surrounds you, making the narrative more personal without altering its structure or content. Content-wise, The Talos Principle VR is generous. It includes the full main game along with additional content such as the Road to Gehenna expansion, offering a large collection of puzzles that range from introductory logic exercises to deeply complex challenges that demand patience and creativity. The non-linear structure allows players to tackle areas in different orders, which works especially well in VR, as it lets you set your own rhythm and avoid frustration by stepping away from a puzzle that isn’t clicking. The sense of progression comes not from power-ups or abilities, but from growing understanding, and VR reinforces that by making each solved puzzle feel physically and mentally earned. That said, the VR adaptation is more about immersion than reinvention. Players who have already completed the original version may find that the experience is fundamentally the same, just delivered through a different lens. There are no VR-exclusive puzzles or major mechanical overhauls designed specifically around room-scale interaction, which may leave some veterans wishing for more experimentation with the medium. Performance and comfort are generally solid, but as with many VR titles, the experience benefits from a capable system to maintain smooth visuals and avoid distraction from the game’s contemplative tone. Ultimately, The Talos Principle VR stands as an excellent example of how virtual reality can elevate a thoughtful, slow-paced game without compromising its identity. It doesn’t chase novelty for its own sake; instead, it uses VR to deepen immersion, presence, and emotional resonance. For newcomers, it is one of the most intellectually rewarding puzzle experiences available in VR, offering hours of challenging content wrapped in a philosophical framework that invites reflection long after the headset comes off. For returning players, it may feel familiar, but stepping inside this world adds a new dimension that makes revisiting its questions and challenges feel worthwhile in a more personal, embodied way.
