i don't think there's any game out there that you can really call a 10/10, it does not exist. maybe the controls are a little bit too slippery or the camera is a little bit too wonky, or maybe the gameplay is a little too easy or hard. yet, i would be glad to say that this game probably comes the closest to it. if i had to rate it earnestly, i would give it a 9.8/10. there are some problems sure, but this is natural when it comes to early access stuff. keep in mind however that this game has probably 5x the content of some fully finished and released games out there. the very few flaws i would note down at the time are the following. these are spoilery and are intended for the developer mostly, but you can read them if you wish: - the alter twin character doesn't feel very good to play; it can be tiring holding down the charge button all the time to attack, and the laser beam itself doesn't feel like it does enough damage. i understand that it does piercing damage but sometimes you don't want that for certain monsters (even if you can often choose which one you want to fight.) however, there are settings to change the way that your charge attack fires, like changing the input style or whether it is automatic, and the character has a familiar focused build that is able to get a thin selection of gifts, which helps to combat rng somewhat, not that it needs to be combatted very much because the gifts are immaculately balanced in this game already. i suppose this character is in here to introduce variety in the end, but this is likely my least favorite. - the alter defect in the endless nightmares gamemode is really tough because you are encouraged to save karma over long periods of time to enhance your shopping experience, but as a side effect you are spending a long time in each boss battle because of your low damage output from trying to save karma. this causes you to lose hp a lot and get left in a very dangerous threshold where one hit can kill you, quite often. also, their starting gift contributes a TON to your power rating which makes shopping even more difficult. i wouldn't call the alter defect a challenge character typically, because their starting gifts in other gamemodes are really good, but here they feel like they lag behind other characters by a lot. if you have chosen not to read those spoilers and think those big walls of hidden text are really bad, then i can tell you they are not that bad at all, i just like to go into detail about small things a lot. the reason im not saying much positive stuff is because i know that, with a 99% all time overwhelmingly positive review rate, there have been thousands of people who have said how much they love each and every mechanic 10x over, and i agree with all of them. also one last thing i would want to say is that, although it can be a bit tough to recommend this game because of certain ways the story presents itself, i think that if you give the game an honest try, then you will find it has some important things to say about loving yourself, loving others and never giving up in your darkest hour. i appreciate games that do this because the outside world right now is in a bad state as everyone knows, so it is nice to get affirmation to keep going in these trying times, and to be a better person to those around you. also the one REALLY last thing i want to say is this game goes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HARD on the steam deck, it is the perfect game for it!!!

Absolutely incredible game. Only thing I've been playing since I bought it during the winter sale. I love everything about it, except for a single thing. The white flashbang that appears when you get a heartbreak results in me getting headaches. I've been playing with Windows' Night Light mode turned on cause it helps a bit, but it's still pretty awful. I really hope that the dev reads this review, and adds an option to disable the flashbang or maybe change the white background to black. It would help me and others immensely. EDIT: A way to disable the small flashbang you get when you "defeat" a monster would also be greatly appreciated. EDIT #2: The dev has added an option to invert the colors of the victory flash, as well as the heartbreak scene flash! Many thanks to them for doing this! It helps a lot.

Absolutely fantastic game. Loving the game loop. Loving all of the content. Loving every monster I come across. Amazing that the dev is still releasing consistent updates. Can't wait to see the final form of this game when the time comes. Shout out Olexa for introducing me to this banger of a game.

It is only USD $12.99. It is wonderful! LOADS of content and unlocks. Yes, it is another game in Early Access, but hot damn its worth it in my opinion! PS: Thanks Olexa for bringing this back out for Olexamas! Allowed me find this gem.
