Eh, i didn't have a bad time, i just wish there were more than one correct way to doing things. I replayed it three times and most of the choices don't feel impactful, there is only the correct or the wrong option nothing more.

This Is the President, developed by SuperPAC and published by THQ Nordic, is a darkly satirical narrative-driven strategy game that drops players into the Oval Office not to lead with dignity, but to escape justice. You take on the role of a newly elected president of the United States, but instead of building a legacy based on governance and ideals, your primary objective is to consolidate enough power to grant yourself lifetime immunity from prosecution. The game’s concept alone sets the stage for a morally complex, tonally sharp, and often bleakly humorous take on political power and corruption. The narrative premise is as unconventional as it is fascinating. You begin your presidency already tainted—you're a former businessman and criminal, under threat of legal retribution for past misdeeds. Your mission isn’t to heal the nation or uplift the people, but to exploit every branch of government to amend the U.S. Constitution in your favor. What follows is a blend of political maneuvering, criminal underhandedness, media manipulation, and outright blackmail, all presented through branching narratives and choice-driven gameplay. It plays like a mix between a visual novel, a management sim, and a morally bankrupt strategy game, and it wears its cynicism like a badge of honor. Mechanically, the game unfolds in a mixture of daily planning, crisis management, and long-term strategic objectives. You oversee a small team of operatives—your inner circle—who can be sent on various missions ranging from bribery and hacking to intimidation, surveillance, and even assassination. These agents are key to the gameplay loop. Each mission requires balancing resources, managing risk, and making tough calls that often toe the line between morally grey and outright evil. Choices matter in both small and large ways, and the outcomes of your decisions often spiral into unexpected consequences that can dramatically shift your position in the political landscape. The interface itself is somewhat minimalist but serviceable, relying on dialogue boxes, maps, and menus. Most of your time is spent reading dossiers, dispatching agents, and managing public perception via press conferences and political statements. The game uses satire effectively, echoing the tone of shows like House of Cards or Veep, albeit with a darker and more absurd twist. It never takes itself too seriously, but beneath the surface-level absurdity is a biting critique of how power structures can be manipulated and eroded from within. You’ll find yourself justifying questionable decisions not to win votes, but to stay one step ahead of the law—and perhaps worse, to maintain the illusion of legitimacy. Despite its intriguing premise, This Is the President has several rough edges that might frustrate players looking for a more polished experience. The UI, while functional, can feel clunky, especially during longer play sessions. The pacing is uneven; some missions unfold with gripping tension, while others drag out due to repetitive mechanics or lackluster writing. Agent missions, for instance, can sometimes feel arbitrary, with success or failure depending less on player strategy and more on chance or opaque logic. Additionally, the sheer amount of reading and micromanagement may not appeal to everyone, particularly those expecting more traditional gameplay mechanics. Visually, the game opts for a stylized, somewhat comic-book-inspired aesthetic. It’s not graphically intensive, but it conveys its tone well. Character portraits, UI elements, and environmental backdrops are all cleanly designed, helping to maintain a consistent atmosphere throughout. The music and sound design do their job effectively, enhancing the sense of suspense, drama, or absurdity depending on the scenario. Voice acting is minimal, but the written dialogue is often sharp, with moments of dark humor and satire that land surprisingly well. One of the most compelling aspects of the game is how it forces players into morally compromising situations. You’re not playing a reluctant hero or a misunderstood antihero—you’re playing a corrupt, self-serving individual trying to outsmart democracy itself. This flips the usual power fantasy on its head, creating a game experience where progress feels like digging a deeper hole. The deeper you get into the presidency, the more you’re entangled in lies, cover-ups, and shifting allegiances. There’s a constant sense of pressure, of being moments away from scandal or exposure, which gives the gameplay a persistent tension. That said, the game’s heavy reliance on cynicism and dark satire may not be for everyone. It offers little in the way of moral balance or redemption arcs. There’s no option to "do the right thing" or reform your ways—the game is laser-focused on its premise of corruption and power consolidation, which can feel bleak or exhausting over time. Still, for players who enjoy morally ambiguous narratives, political intrigue, and offbeat strategy mechanics, This Is the President offers a fresh and thought-provoking experience. In the end, This Is the President is a unique title that blends political simulation with narrative decision-making in a way that feels both timely and twisted. It’s not without its flaws—some repetitive gameplay loops, a few technical hiccups, and uneven pacing—but it succeeds in offering a provocative lens through which to view the modern political system. It’s a rare game that lets you revel in the chaos of corruption while making you question the very systems we take for granted. If you’re looking for something that breaks the mold of traditional political sims, and you're willing to embrace its dark sense of humor, this game is a compelling and memorable ride through the ugliest side of power. I like it. Feels like a interactive novel rather than an actual game, way different than the previous games they've released like "This is The Police", but it's alright. I enjoy the soundtrack, however i very much dislike that there are only 2-3 songs per every month which go on repeat, sometimes the same song plays over and over again. Very frustrating, other than that, i enjoyed the experience.

Good fun, a little close to the mark right now perhaps. Only a few hours in, but it feels like the decisions have a direct impact on how things progress. Interesting to see how it develops, but quite easy to get into but it certainly has scope to be a little more complex.
