I like this game. I think this could be better than Uncharted Waters from Koei. I have finished all main storylines including the DLC. There are many side quests and discoveries to do other than the main storyline. Even barmaids have quests. It is a bit grindy as first, but auto sailing will help speed up the travel between cities and regions. There are about 30 characters that could join the main characters on the voyage. There are a lot of ships you can use either by building them yourselves or buying from the shipyard.
Spiritual successor to Uncharted Waters, but much better. It has a bit of an Octopath Traveler vibe. The translation is rough in parts, but never a showstopper. Combat is a bit simplistic but functional. This definitely scratch that exploration/discovery itch I've had since Horizon's Gate!
Basically a love letter to Uncharted Waters 4, from what I've read (US only had 1 & 2, plus an MMO & FTP). Glad this was made, I had always wished for more, and then find out there were like 4 more that never got released in the US. This was an excellent game, could've used a couple of QoL improvements, but by and large, I loved it (270+ hours).
Sailing Era is a good game. Marginally superior to the old Uncharted Waters, which you wouldn't think would be saying much considering UW is three decades old, and yet UW 1&2 are basically the high water mark for games in this genre with everything since having been a weak attempt at imitation at best. Sailing Era is the first game, in spite of its occasional translation errors, that I would say firmly replicates and builds upon the old formula, even if only just. Well worth my time thus far.
