---see where this game landed on my tower defense tier list beneath this review!--- Tiny Tactics is a refreshing mazer TD for those that miss using units as towers in some of the Warcraft 3 custom maps. Each.. "tower" belongs to one or more class groups, and getting multiple towers of the same class onto the battlefield gives you increasingly powerful class bonuses. This encourages you to try and synergize wherever possible and there are a lot of options in this regard. This is one of those tower defenses where you aren't forced to do any activity during a wave, but quite a bit of thinking between. The game allows you to play in 2x speed (I didn't need it any faster, waves are short). Between levels you have an overworld hub which you are exploring. It's very minor interactivity, but I do appreciate this approach over games that use a stage select list. You have different routes you can explore and this causes you to wonder what lies beyond in different directions (even though it will just be one of 3 things: a pile of crystals, more levels or the entrance to a new biome). Each level has multiple difficulties and you want to 3 star each level to retrieve the 3 crystals from it. You spend the crystals on permnanet upgrades, roguelite style. The upgrades are only marginally interesting and there aren't too many of them so this is an area that I felt could have used further effort & imagination. Music is pretty minimalist but inoffensive, though I load up my own music when playing this one. For some reason the game has a setting that blurs the edges of the screen (often interfering with your vision of the path you're building on). You can thankfully disable this in options (click on FoV). Weird that this is on by default, it might make a screenshot look pretty, but it's otherwise annoying interferance. It's also on the title screen and can't be turned off there, it hurts my eyes to look at. I like that the game displays the damage done by each tower, every wave. Akin to a DPS parse in an MMO. Insightful and just fun to look at. The game lacks some polish in places, but I was always able to deal with whatever the issue was (clicking an upgrade also moves you on the map) (gold can get stuck on your towers) (etc etc etc). All in all, this is a pretty fun and addictive TD for those that like to think a bit about the tower synergy/unit compositions. I'm far from finished it, there's a lot of content here, though it does get a bit repetitive and stale eventually. ===================== My Tower Defense Tier List ===================== -Not an objective list, purely how much I enjoyed the games- S Tier: X-Morph Defense | Warcraft 3 (Custom TD Maps) | Orcs Must Die! | Orcs Must Die! 2 | Orcs Must Die! 3 | A Tier: Dungeon Warfare | Plants Vs. Completed the game in about 90 hours, played on lowest difficulty first, then the hardest. It's a very fun and addicting game that you can either play for 15 minutes or for hours. There are many classes and units to choose from so you can be creative and win a game with a new strategy all the time. Some minor bugs, but once you know how to trigger them you can avoid them.

Good TD fun for a while, but it gets repetitive since nothing in the gameplay ever changes. Also clicking bugs, sometimes you have to move a bountyhunter before being able to click on the coin above it, and worse, sometimes you can’t move a tower at all! Clicking on it does nothing. Also several things are not explained at all (the coin above the bountyhunters, the mana system, what " " means in the descriptions, etc.) Still giving it a recommendation, because as I said it’s still fun for a decent amount of hours, and besides the clicking bugs it works fine under Linux. (ah yes, except the lack of 21:9 support…)

i love Tower Defense games but i didn't think i'd like this one. Boy was i wrong. i love, love, love this game. You hire heroes and those heroes are walls (it's a mazing game). Heroes belong to groups (assassins, scouts, bounty hunters, etc.) and if you get a certain amount you get bonuses (e.g., 4 bounty hunters = bonus cash on kill). There are a variety of attacks (tidal wave pushes everyone back) and abilities (scouts don't have to be placed on the map) and powerups (the dog statue makes neighbors attack better). It's really polished and a lot of fun.
