Reminds me of my childhood. I grew up with nitrome flash games and twin shot 2. It makes me feel like a child coming home from school on a friday afternoon to spend hours trying to complete every level. Well worth the purchase

YES, I would recommend this to people who enjoy 2D action-platformers that hail back to the Flash game era. There's a good amount of content with extra unlockables and replayable modes. Even though the game is more geared toward co-op, I had a great time playing this in single-player. I think Nitrome made the best choice for their classics debut, picking the Twin Shot series as the first release. It's easy to pick up and difficult to master, has a great setup for co-op and it is well-known enough that people who hear the word "Nitrome" might remember it fondly as one of their favourite games. Twin Shot was probably the one I was looking forward to out of the three titles that got announced. I used to play the Flash games co-op with my three siblings - it was up there with Double Edged and Bad Ice-Cream as one of the games we would all get together and play (or watch 2 people play, at least) If this were released 5 years earlier, I probably would have tried to play through it all co-op. Now I'm living on my own and don't have much time to even connect with people a lot. :( Having played through all the new levels, I feel like Twin Shot Deluxe is everything me, as a long-time Nitromian, is looking for in a modern Nitrome Steam release. The graphics are completely redone, but I barely even noticed for the majority of them. And the background art is gorgeous. Nitrome makes some of the best background art in any game I've played. I don't know how they manage to get so many details and movement while not being a huge distraction when playing the game. Don't get me started on the art for the brand-new theme; I could go on for a VERY long time. The deluxe counterparts to the original levels felt similar enough that I would be like, "yeah, I remember this level", even knowing that a side-by-side comparison would show that they spent time tweaking and polishing their original designs. I never played the original Hell levels before, but going through Hades, I was really impressed by how many integrations of puzzle elements there were with action-platforming elements. Sure some of these levels I found frustrating, but I also found some solutions that ended up being more feasible. The Atlantis area is where Nitrome gets to shine in their level design. One level that stood out to me was the one with the pufferfish and the poisonous substance, where you can shoot the pufferfish to wash off the poison, which you need to do in order to not rapidly lose health. But there's a limited amount of pufferfish, so you have to time it in a particular way. I like that level a lot. I thought the music sounded a bit not Twin Shot -esque, but upon hearing it in the game fully, I like it a lot. I do loop this on repeat while at work. It's got some nice rhythmic texture, it's a little mysterious and it has pretty bells. It's nice to hear new Dave Cowen music in a Nitrome game again. Don't get me wrong though, many of the levels are QUITE frustrating. The Deluxe version even takes away the third permanent heart so you only get 2 hearts per level (you can tweak this in accessibility settings or getting a powerup that temporarily grants you 1 extra). However, once I realized that the levels themselves are relatively short and quick to respawn, it made more sense for the balancing. The hardest part, in some areas, was just trying to stay alive after accomplishing the base goal of defeating all the enemies. While I do like seeing new Nitrome content on Steam, I had a wonderful time playing Twin Shot Deluxe , and I really hope more people consider getting the soundtrack if they like it. I want to see more Nitrome music being sold by Nitrome! I look forward to checking out the Classic levels to see how much I actually recall. Take care, Nitrome. Until the next classics release!

It's not the original Flash browser game with janky controls and weird, stiff yet slippery movement that was released... 17 years ago??? (good LORD...) It is the much better version you remember playing all the way back in 2009 at your friend's house on the weekends. The game looks beautiful, the controls work as they should and the movement is buttery smooth and satisfying, and this bad boy can fit SO MUCH game in it! There are so many levels and skins and items and unlockables and boss fights and... Please, buy this game and support Nitrome so more of their classic catalogue of games can get this brilliant treatment, I beg you. This makes me very happy and I hope they keep this project going for a good long while.
