Uncover the Smoking Gun is a futuristic detective adventure developed by ReLU Games, Inc. and published by ReLU Games, Inc. and KRAFTON, Inc. Set in a world where humans and highly intelligent robots coexist, the game immediately establishes a compelling premise through a series of mysterious murders that threaten the fragile relationship between both groups. Rather than relying on traditional adventure game mechanics, it places players in the role of an investigator tasked with uncovering the truth through careful observation, logical deduction, and direct interaction with robotic suspects. The result is a mystery experience that feels fresh, ambitious, and highly focused on the investigative process. The game's most distinctive feature is its conversation system. Instead of selecting dialogue options from a predefined list, players are encouraged to ask their own questions and conduct interrogations in a more natural way. This design creates a strong sense of immersion because every interview feels personal and unpredictable. Players must think like actual detectives, paying attention to details, remembering previous statements, and identifying inconsistencies in suspect testimonies. The freedom to shape investigations through questioning adds a level of engagement rarely seen in detective games and transforms conversations into the central gameplay mechanic rather than a simple storytelling tool. The narrative unfolds across multiple interconnected cases that gradually reveal a much larger conspiracy. Each episode introduces new mysteries, evidence, and suspects while contributing to an overarching storyline involving advanced technology, secret research projects, and the possibility that artificial intelligence may be evolving beyond its intended limitations. The writing effectively balances individual murder investigations with broader themes concerning identity, consciousness, and the ethical consequences of technological advancement. As more clues are uncovered, the story becomes increasingly layered and encourages players to question both human and robotic motivations. Exploration and evidence collection play an important supporting role throughout the experience. Crime scenes are filled with information that must be carefully examined and connected to other discoveries. Collected evidence is not simply stored away as a checklist; it becomes a critical tool during interrogations. Presenting the right piece of evidence at the right moment can expose contradictions, unlock new information, or pressure suspects into revealing hidden truths. This relationship between investigation and dialogue creates a satisfying gameplay loop that rewards careful attention and thoughtful analysis. Another notable feature is the confession system, which serves as a dramatic culmination of each case. After gathering enough evidence and identifying weaknesses in a suspect's story, players can push interrogations further and force critical revelations. These moments provide some of the game's most memorable scenes because they directly reward the player's deductive skills. Instead of relying on scripted solutions alone, the game makes players feel responsible for breaking through layers of deception and reaching the truth. Visually, Uncover the Smoking Gun embraces a realistic science-fiction style that complements its serious tone. The environments present a believable near-future setting where advanced robotics are integrated into everyday life. Crime scenes are detailed enough to encourage close examination, while character designs help distinguish suspects and support the investigative atmosphere. The presentation remains grounded and focused, avoiding excessive visual distractions in favor of maintaining tension and immersion throughout the story. The game's ambitious use of AI-driven interactions is both its greatest strength and its most experimental element. The freedom offered during interrogations creates many memorable moments and often makes players feel genuinely involved in solving cases. At the same time, some conversations can occasionally feel inconsistent due to the dynamic nature of the system. Even so, the willingness to explore new forms of interactive storytelling deserves praise, and the overall experience remains impressive because of how successfully it integrates these systems into the detective framework. Uncover the Smoking Gun stands out as a creative and intelligent mystery game that challenges players to think rather than simply follow objectives. Its blend of freeform questioning, evidence-based investigations, intriguing science-fiction themes, and layered storytelling results in a detective experience that feels genuinely unique. While the experimental nature of its AI systems may not always be flawless, the game's originality and commitment to immersive investigation make it a memorable journey for fans of mystery and narrative-driven adventures. 7/10 Only because i am incredily stupid at looking for all the clues and looking at everything. BUT other than that the underlying story was epic, i love the graphics and game mechanics. If you love detective/slightly horror styled games, play this.

First detective game with an AI I have played, and I though it was quite enjoyable. The gameplay loop boils down to three mechanics: - Finding physical clues - Interviewing robots (this is where the LLM comes in) - Arranging everything on a wall and literally connecting the dots. While this loop stays quite constant, every level adds some nice side mechanic to keep it fresh. The cases feel solvable (but require some mental work), and the game definitely does not overstay its welcome. If you are looking for a noir-like detective game that show cases the use of chat bots, I'd give it a go.

Really neat concept, you really gotta crawl around sometimes to find all the evidence, and get creative with the questioning of the robots. Easier to play on pc vs steam deck because you will type a lot. Interesting story and overarching themes. Doesn't seem that far off into the future. The only issue I have is 2 achievements are bugged, for playing for 300 and 450 minutes.
