It's ok, It's what it advertises being, a game about being a forensic specialist. There is a Caveat for my recommendation (outside of balancing the scales abit): You are NOT a detective You just there to collect evidence, process them (matching with known stuff), so someone else does the investigation and conclusions. Don't expect any grand long term cases, or deal something like Zodiac Killer. Majority of the cases are just burglaries, threats or similar and very much open and shut. Infact there was only one case that was related to a previous case, but otherwise its just "stuff of the day". Its just busy work. Documenting Evidence at the Scene, Finding and Dusting Fingerprints, Collecting and Processing Samples and Electronics, Matching Ballistics and checking Trajectories, etc. Pretty much what it is on the tin, Forensics: Collecting Evidence, Assembling the Crime Scene, so someone else can connect the dots. Beat it in roughly 7-8 hours. IMO my main gripe was placing the placards and taking pictures of it alot of the last few cases had evidence clustered in really tight places which made taking pictures extremely difficult while maintaining the constraint of one placard and one evidence, when in some later cases (Keyword: case with a barrel and another case with a safe) the pictures were accepted regardless of so many placards and evidence in frame, it was very inconsistent. And if I removed placards, sometimes the assignment was lost after I had taken pictures. The Amount of back and forth from the camera/placard box in these cases became quite ridiculous. There should be a way of moving existing placards after you placed them than discard and replace, before one takes a picture of it. After all, a forensic expert should have two hands, and cameras can be worn on the neck with a lanyard. My second gripe is that as soon as the areas are widened, there are only 1-2 cases where the evidence is no longer in the main area of the crime it self. This is logical yes if evidence if being hidden, but after few casese before such happens its kind of annoying especially when its not mentioned anywhere in the help guide, and its not inherently clear that such is possible in the game. Imo it should have been established early in the game, maybe in even in training. Outside of that Had some bugs which the developers fixed the next day quickly (had an area be inaccessible, which had a critical evidence) or some finger print features not being recognized even though the print was clear. The game clearly is trying something different, and Would like to see more similar, if a bit improved mechanically prior to any dlc with new cases

I am really enjoying my time with this game. The game play loop is relaxed and does not rush you into anything. Searching the different maps is a lot of fun with many details around every corner. You can always go back and forth between the crime scene and the lab, which does help during the puzzle sequence once you notice something is missing. It does start small and easy, but ramps up pretty good. Getting 100% in each case will require some deep searching for evidence, but also provides additional replay value. The achievements so far also seem rather easy, no need to be perfect at everything! The devs are pretty active and respond to feedback quickly. The patch on the first day solved a lot of issues reported in other reviews. The only complaint, like many others: Item management can be annoying since you can only hold one item at a time. This is especially annoying when you need to take a picture of something and run back to grab the dust spray.

The scoring system is encouraging, but it would be much more satisfying if each deduction included a brief explanation. I don't mind earning a lower score—I just want to understand how to improve. A debrief explaining things like oversaturated DNA samples, incomplete fingerprint comparisons, or missed analysis steps would make replaying scenes much more rewarding.

As a mortician and forensic technician, this hits different. (even if reviews are mostly negative) This game is genuinely fun and brings back a lot of memories minus the actual physical and mental stress, thankfully. A must-try for aspiring forensic students, or forensics students who want to “explore” a bit deeper into the field. This could actually be useful supplementary material, especially in countries like mine where resources for a BS Forensics program are limited. Tutorial too long? I was hoping for it to be more in depth xD Hoping we could get more updates in the future autopsies, post-mortem investigations(legal medicine), polygraphy, that kind of thing would be a great addition. I am certain that the game would get “better” sooner or later :) Recommended.

Looking at the comments, I am unsure whether people understand the intentions of the game... I absolutely adore this game and have already sunk 7 hours in it. I understand there are bugs regarding new cases not coming up which can be frustrating, but I wanted to make a review nonetheless. I studied Forensic Science at University and this game is accurate in my understanding of academic rather than professional experience (which I do not have). I am hoping in the future there are more types of evidence other than the 4 we currently have but those 4, in my opinion, are done very well. Yes, it is repetitive, but that is the job. You get so many different cases, that will have no relation to one another (which I did see a complaint about), constantly where you will be doing the same examinations all the time. The main focus of Forensics is to provide evidence, especially if you are in the laboratory. It is not your role to draw conclusions about the case, you just provide the means for that to happen by the people who do it, which, when reading the comments, a lot of people do not understand. Yes, it is a video game, and yes it would be cool, so maybe there could be a gamemode for it if the community wanted it (and the developers wanted to make it), then it would work. I agree that there could be improvements to the UI. It would be nice, mainly in the tutorials, where it shows you how you can improve to get the perfect mark, especially in the finger mark examination (which seems to be the main struggle in with the reviews). Overall, I do highly recommend this game and I believe it has such great potential. I will definitely be following along with any and all updates they do. Thankyou so much for this game, was so very excited when I played the demo in the NextFest!! <3
