Good remake to one of the best horror games back in the day. It's still somewhat buggy and very overpriced, so I would wait until dawn it's on sale.

The game's premise, set in a remote mountain lodge, takes inspiration from classic slasher films, offering a gripping narrative filled with twists and unexpected turns. Players are tasked with keeping a group of friends alive through a night of terror, where every decision counts and can drastically change the outcome of the story. It creates a tense atmosphere, keeping players on edge throughout. The story centers on eight friends who reunite at a cabin one year after a tragic incident. The narrative expertly weaves together interpersonal drama, psychological horror, and supernatural elements. Each character’s fate rests in the player's hands, allowing for multiple endings and character deaths depending on the choices made. While the plot can sometimes lean into familiar horror tropes, the branching paths and consequences make it an engaging experience for those who enjoy narrative-driven games. Gameplay in Until Dawn primarily revolves around quick-time events, decision-making, and exploration. While the decision-based system is its core strength, offering a wide range of outcomes, some sequences feel clunky due to stiff character movement. The game’s reliance on QTEs can occasionally break immersion, as some sections feel more like a series of timed button presses than fluid, interactive gameplay. Additionally, there are noticeable bugs where characters appear to pop in unnaturally or experience glitchy movement, which can disrupt the experience. Visually, Until Dawn shines with its atmospheric environments and detailed character models. The moody lighting and eerie setting add a lot to the tension and fear, though there are moments when the lighting seems off or inconsistent. While the characters and setting generally look polished, certain visual bugs, like odd character movements and lighting issues, detract from the overall immersion. Additionally, audio issues—where dialogue or sound effects randomly cut out—occur far too often, which is frustrating in an otherwise immersive environment. Overall, Until Dawn delivers an engaging and suspenseful experience for horror fans who appreciate narrative depth and branching outcomes. While its gameplay can feel uneven due to bugs and an over-reliance on quick-time events, the story and atmosphere keep it compelling. Despite its flaws, the game’s ability to make players care about their choices and the characters’ fates ensures it stands out in the horror genre. Until Dawn gets a 6/10. I love Until Dawn, even if this absolutely is the most expensive movie I've ever bought. In terms of this remaster: positive: - at its core, it's still Until Dawn (which is good) and I'm happy I could finally play this on PC - I think the new graphics are great. While the game arguably lost some of its stylistic look, the new look is very natural. You can actually see what the characters and environments looks like without at least one third of your screen being totally dark - the free camera control really lets you appreciate how good the game looks neutral: - the small changes/additions here and there are alright. There was nothing that stood out to me as particularly positive, though - the old camera controls really should have been left in as an option for people who want to use them. Dunno why we couldn't have both - I really don't think the introduction needed to be changed, but I understand opening it up a little bit for players to experience the free camera control better - the new score didn't really add anything for me. That being said, Until Dawn to me is a game that doesn't need music to begin with as the dialogue and general exploration is engaging enough that I don't need music to stay entertained negative: - speaking of music, where the heck is O Death? Come on, it's THE iconic song of Until Dawn that basically became the theme of Supermassive Games. Not having it is a crime - while I appreciate that the new intro credits visually link the actors to their characters, they don't set the mood nearly as well as the old intro credits did (but also because O Death is missing) - performance is fine most of the time, but some parts gave me hard frame drops. That being said, my PC is 6 years old - 70 bucks is a steep price to ask for a nine year old game. I mean everyone who is interested in this genre already knows Until Dawn in and out, so the high price is a hurdle for people who'd buy it just because they like the game

I never owned a PS4, so I missed out on the original release. However, after watching countless playthroughs, I fell in love with the story and characters. Finally getting to experience it firsthand and make my own choices was amazing-and the updated graphics? Absolutely stunning. Like many others have mentioned, I did run into a lot bugs and lag spikes, but once those are patched, it'll be well worth the purchase.
