I don't think The Casting of Frank Stone deserves the negative attention it’s been getting. As a longtime fan of decision-driven horror games, this one is well worth your time. Jumping between different time periods to piece the narrative together bit by bit gives the game a great pace and mystery. On top of that, blending the lore of Dead by Daylight into Supermassive’s cinematic storytelling formula is absolute genius, it feels like a genuine love letter to fans of both universes. Honestly, this is one of the better releases the genre has seen recently. After feeling pretty disappointed by 'The Quarry', this was a refreshing return with an engaging story, tense atmosphere, and choices that genuinely feel impactful. Don't let the mixed reviews keep you away if you enjoy narrative horror.
𖤐𖤐𖤐𖤐 Wow. Just wow. This was genuinely such a fantastic game. I have no idea why it has mixed reviews. If you've played other Supermassive titles like The Dark Pictures Anthology, you'll likely enjoy this as it's just as good, if not better than some of them. The atmosphere is incredible, the story is intricate but not at all hard to follow and the mysteries it unravels kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn't stop playing until it was over. This would have made for a great movie. It has the perfect amount of slasher elements mixed with the perfect amount of lovecraftian eldritch horror. Even if you are not familiar with Dead by Daylight, I believe this game would still suffice as a great stand alone story but for those who are familiar, the lore and references scattered throughout are SO cool! I highly recommend not letting the mixed reviews scare you away from this. PS: BEHAVIOUR PLEASE PUT FRANK STONE IN DBD!!!
please do not buy this game outside of a sale. if you are particularly interested in the dead by daylight mythos or have no other game to play i suppose it is serviceable. the story is not very standout in quality and neither is the game but it isn't so bad so as to write it off completely
For a Dead by Daylight lore enthusiast, the game is pretty cool. You see lots of references and connections to its universe. For someone who's not at all familiar with Dead by Daylight, the game is mid. The choices don't really matter, and maybe three characters at most will seem somewhat interesting to you. Oh, and the game's optimization is one of the worst I've ever seen. I'll let my bias win and give it a positive review because I like that they tried expanding the world of Dead by Daylight outside the main game, and I want to see more games set in its universe. That said, only buy the game on sale. And if you care about DBD cosmetics, get the Deluxe Edition.
