A very nice short classical point-and-click adventure game! I especially liked large fonts and large drawn characters :) Too bad that the quite original detective story of the first half of the game soon turns into just another clone of "Monkey Island". So that even many puzzles are made by copy-paste method, including Mortal Monkey Voodoo Kombat... Still, it could well be recommended to all adventure game lovers.

A funny, beautiful and delightful point and click detective adventure. Despite being the studio's first game, Voodoo Detective shows none of the rough edges that you might expect - a smooth and engaging experience with clever puzzles intricately woven in to the lore and story telling, set against a backdrop of beautiful hand-drawn artwork and elevated by a funny script and clever writing. One of the most delightful and accomplished point and click detective games of the current generation. Strong recommend.

A very satisfying game to play ... great voice acting ... beautiful music .... loved the art work ... and a very rich story from beginning to the end ... was not able to stop playing until I finished it ... for a point and click game its a 9/10 recommend

Voodoo Detective is an intriguing point-and-click adventure that aims to capture the magic of the Sierra/Lucas Arts golden era. For the most part, it succeeds in this endeavor. The puzzles follow the classic formula: item collection, combination, and environmental interaction. Collectible items are easily distinguishable in the environments, and puzzle solutions are generally straightforward without any major brain-teasers. A voodoo spellbook serves as the game's guide, identifying necessary items and leading players to spells or charms that typically resolve key story elements. Set on a gentrified resort island, the story follows the Voodoo Detective, a private investigator. While it begins promisingly with a case of stolen memory, it quickly expands into a broader tale of conspiracy and voodoo. The voice acting is commendable, but the characters and overall writing lack depth and memorability. This is unfortunate, as well-written storylines and memorable casts are crucial in replicating the soul of classic Sierra/Lucas Arts adventures. The game's scope is relatively small, featuring only about a dozen locations and offering approximately six or so hours of gameplay. However, the art, animation, music, and voice-over work are all of high quality. The developers clearly understood the recipe for matching the energy and style of classic point-and-click adventures, but the game falls short in delivering engaging characters and a compelling narrative. While Voodoo Detective is a serviceable tribute to the genre, it struggles to stand on its own merits. Fans of point-and-click adventures may find it enjoyable, especially when purchased at a discount. However, it fails to leave a lasting impression due to its lackluster storytelling and forgettable cast.
