BottomLine at the Top: ExcellentA+FantasticThumbsUpDukeOFNEWYOKRKallthesuperlatives awesome game! Extremely recommended. Intro: Back in the day it was super exciting when a new Sierra Online or LucasArts point n' click game was released or if you came across one you hadn't heard of before. Because you just knew that it was going to be an awesome gaming experience. I feel that same way today when I see a new Pn'C released by Raw Fury or Wadjet Eye. So naturally I just had to pick this one up when it was released! Pros: -This has, by far, some of the best animation I have seen in a Pn'C Game. Excellent sprites and the cutscenes were just amazing -Like its predecessor this game has an excellent cast of professional voice actors -Gorgeous background designs. -Great writing. Story is coherent and follows the first game nicely -Nice quality of life features (double click fast travel, hotspot identifier key, lots of save slots, notebook that keeps track of current objectives, game also has plenty of subtle hints). -Excellent puzzles that have good flow. No real moon logic puzzles to speak of or lots of "wtf do i do now" -Lots of interactivity. Having lots of things to click on and interact with make Pn'C's feel much more immersive and interesting. Meh...: -Took about 7 hours to complete the game with half the steam achievements unlocked. I think this is fine as the game was very engrossing and I basically wanted to play it straight thru. Only listed in "meh" as I know some people dont like the price to hour ratio (but again i think this is a dumb complaint for this game) Cons: -I think my only real complaint is that I wasn't a fan of the "one click to do everything" interface for this particular game. Love me a good icon bar or right-click context menu. Sometimes I just wanted the "look" response and not to commit the action. Also, interacting with the inventory and selecting items to use in the real world felt a little clunky at times. Final Thoughts: Its very encouraging that the first title did well enough they felt that a sequel would be appropriate. And I truly hope this one does well enough that a trilogy would not be out of the question ;) . A very highly recommended title for any point and click adventure game afficionado! Meanwhile... While I really did not like the first game (even on a very recent gameplay), this one fixed everything that was wrong with its prequel. The story is great, the characters are good and well developed and the graphics are gorgeous. It's basically Twin Peaks the video game and I am here for it. I didn't expect it after having played game 1, but now I really hope there will be a third one.

Reluctant recommend. It has the same pros and cons as the first game, meaning you'll probably feel the same way about this one as KR1. Great music, great art, interesting start, fun puzzles and clearly a lot of effort put in. Kathy's written well, a somewhat more grown-up (and therefore more tolerable) version of the KR1 counterpart. Love the new look and the voiced dialogue. You can also pet the cat :) The plot is where the game loses me (again). It's a direct sequel and ends up following the same build-up too. If you've played KR1 -- the plot takes the same turn at approximately the same point as before. More of the supernatural element is fleshed out, but I'm unsatisfied with the ending and the parts left unexplained in the 'main world'. Some 'easier' puzzle solutions also get recycled a little too much for my liking, some major plot reveals could have used a bit more resistance to reduce their predictability. All in all, I still wanted to complete the game and I enjoyed my time with it, so I can't recommend against it either. For the quality of the game I think the price is fine on a sale, and if the theme of the first game was your kind of thing it's probably worth full price.

I loved every minute of this game. Few stories burn this vividly. Sharp writing, killer vibes and a mystery that blossoms where only ashes should remain. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3590534936 Aaaaaaa it's so damn good!! Maybe its my nostalgia talking, or maybe its the hilarious bad ass dialogue, or the gorgeous pixel art. Whatever it is, this game in my humble opinion, is awesome . You play as Kathy Rain, a tough private investigator. Kathy is armed with her stun gun 'Judy' and shes ready to short circuit anyone who stands between her and the truth. I dont often find myself chuckling out loud while playing, but Kathys sarcasm and quick comebacks got me good. She's acted out so well, she's like someone you could actually know (or wish you didn't) . She actually reminds me a bit of [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisbeth_Salander] Lisbeth Salander from the Millennium books . Broken, brilliant and unforgettable. (I mean that in the best way possible) Kathys investigation begins like any other, a string of strange deaths in her hometown, the kind of thing that smells like more than just random killings. A killer that the press dubbed the Soothsayer stalks the town, spreading fear like a sickness. The murders appear senseless, each one a cruel whisper in a growing pattern only the void could understand. But you know: Something connects them . And even better; there's a juicy reward for catching the Soothsayer. Hell yeah! Time to solve murders and pay rent at the same time! ~ So you start digging into strange happenings and uncover secrets people would kill to hide. The question is, will you keep going no matter how deep the madness burns you out? Behind it all, theres something watching. Something that leaks through cracks in reality, twisting minds, feeding on fear, guiding hands to do its bidding. I got completely lost in this game, the vibes are so damn immaculate. Ive always loved Lovecraftian stories and theres something lurking beneath this story. It pulled me in from the very start of the game, I started feeling like a real private detective. I was reading every scrap of text I could find, every newspaper clipping, hidden notes, even the random unhighlighted stuff. There's so much detail in this world, so much attention and care put in things like the newspapers, items, world dialogues, which made every clue feel even more important. I had an absolute blast piecing it all together. The more you glimpse what’s looking at you, the harder it is to look away, and I love it. ♡ I know Im repeating myself a lot, but fυck it: I really loved this story. ♡ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3592701251 Highly hiiiighly recommended! If you like bad ass writing and a splash of cosmic horror. Yes yes yes yes! Pick this game up, buy it now, just don't stare too long into the 𝙴̴̛̱̼̰͙̰̯̯͙͇͆͑͒̋͑̿͂͠ͅ𝚢̵̛͚̦̞̤̠̤͙̖͆͋̎͊͝𝚎̸̛̛̺̠̫̘̯̹̮͋͂̈́͋͂͝ . Kathy Rain 2 is a good sequel. It's not perfect, but overall it delivered what I was hoping for. UPs: - The gameplay is very similar to the first game, so there's no learning curve at all. Returning gamers like me can easily dive on in. - The breadth of the cast of characters is as good as the first. - The difficultly level is roughly the same as the first. I had to search for a hint three times over the course of the game. That's satisfactory. - NO MAZES!!! Mazes are my least favorite common part of point-and-click games. Kathy Rain 1 had only one brief maze, and Kathy Rain 2 has none at all. GOOD! - The humor in Kathy Rain 2 contains much more profanity than the first. While I don't need it, I also don't mind it because its quite believable for this cast of characters. DOWNs: - Similar to the first game, the story gradually goes from fairly realistic to supernatural. This was no problem at all in the first game, but feels a bit repetitive here in the second game; especially because the realistic story (unidentified serial killer who kills rich celebrities and down-and-outers alike) is interesting enough just by itself. - Also like the original, the climax's explanation of the supernatural goings-on is thoroughly unsatisfying because is too vague. - The supernatural plot is a continuation of the first game's plot, which seemed to be adequately resolved at the end of the first game. This gave me a feeling of "Why are we rehashing this?" throughout the entire climax. Especially the baddie's final monologue. Very vague and quite lengthy, it just came off as an annoyance. BOTTOM LINE: The fun gameplay of the original is still here, and so are the flaws of the original. Overall, I had a good time with it. If there's a third installment, I will certainly be interested. Recommended.
