I recommend this game as an addict would recommend it to a fellow addict. The AdvanceWars series was for me one of the best games ever programmed, so I had to buy Warside despite the reviews. I only can confirm the feeling of "not finished". The new units are cool, the new mechanics make sense, except units not be able to enter cities and the characters are also likable. But even though the devs surely got inspired by AW (Airport Joke), Warside lacks the playfull depth of every aspect. Charakters, unit design, campaign, skins (lack there of), modes etc. etc. which is disappointing, looking at the price. In hope, there will be more content, I left a recommendation. So, it's fun and addictive as your train station heroin which you bought overpriced and has not the quality you were used to. It's doing the job of giving the rush, but only because your old dealer ghosted everybody, despite many greedy customers.

If you completed the Advance Wars games and thought "I wish there was more of that" then this is for you. It's not an exact clone, there are some subtle differences, and if I'm being honest, I think they might even be improvements over AW. I'm sure some hardcore AW fans will disagree, but I kind of like it that units can only heal from medics or by being next to a factory, not just any city. It makes a small but significant change to the way you use wounded units, and deal with enemy ones. And if you haven't played an Advance Wars game, then I'll just say this is a very fun turned based strategy game with a nice mix of units, interesting maps, and a balance between missions where you have a fixed number of troops, and ones where get the ability to manufacture new ones. I haven't completed the campaign yet, but I'm about 15 missions in, and so far they've been interesting and I haven't run into any that feel cheap. Highly recommended.

Well, I would cautiously recommend this game. It is not finished as of yet, while it is technically a full release, in practice it is an early access game, so keep that in mind. The game looks great, plays pretty well, the only bug I have encountered is when having too many transport units embarking and disembarking into one another, you sometimes end up being unable to select anything, but with some finagling you can still continue your game. There are 4 factions, but one of them is nowhere near finished, as there are no real special units for them. The main difference this game has with AWBW, is that each faction has a ''wallbreaking' unit, except for the unfinished one, and instead of Mechs you have Snipers, which act like infantry artillery and also medics. Campaign has about 10-15 hours worth of content to it, multiplayer works now, custom maps also work, so if you have a bunch of friends you can get quite a bit of content out of it bashing one another over the head. The main issue in multiplayer is that not all the maps work that well, and in general the ones copied from AWBW work best in my experience. But definitely worth it on a sale.

Warside is a decently fun game. Pros - The campaign has a decent amount of content that should last you a good 24 hours or so. - AI is an improvement over Advanced Wars and doesn't mindlessly charge into you, though it still does a bit of noobish stuff here and there. - Great graphics and awesome artwork. Quite reminiscent of Wargroove. - Some interesting faction specific units like the Rhino. - Really interesting transport mechanics that make them a very strong part of overall strategy. - Some banger soundtracks. - Funny dad jokes. - CO powers that give you control over where they land. Cons - Air units can sometimes be really annoying and sometimes frustrating to deal with on certain missions given their increased mobility and survivability. - Naval gameplay feels a bit too simplistic. - Veterens of the genre may still find much of the campaign to be a little on the easy side.

It's not yet complete - but the developers extremely vocal and active, and is frequently pushing updates. If you like Advance Wars, I think you'll like this. Here are the issues at the time of review: - Campaign is too easy - There's no place to view the commander abilities - Fuel and ammo depletion are not yet working - AI is a bit dumb What I like: - It's basically Advance Wars - It's fun, regardless if it's incomplete - Faction specific units - Map editor is actually pretty decent
