One of the greatest rouge likes of all times! yes plural LMAO this type of time stop gameplay is so unique, I absolutely love it. If you're into dungeon crawlers I would 1000% recommend WazHack. There is a bit of a learning curve tho but what game doesn't? dying over and over again is the best way to learn from your past mistakes, its honestly necessary. For example if you end up getting sick by any reason you could either sleep it off and take the dmg OR! you could eat an apple to make the sickness go away dmg free! another example: if you went blind after drinking the wrong potion or whatever, you could again wait it out and put yourself at a disadvantage OR! you could eat a carrot to give back your 20/20 vision! those are only base level secrets you'll start to discover as you make new attempts down the dungeon, there is so much hidden tech!!! Each life you'll learn the skills and secrets to make your way deeper down the dungeon, and then you'll die and the cycle will repeat. Why? because this game is really challenging, but challenging doesn't mean impossible! With its unique time stop game play you are honestly given so much time to problem solve your way out of any situation. like literally, the whole world stops when you stop moving and only continues when you start to move again. You could find yourself in the worst of situations, i mean like 1 hp, surrounded by enemies thinking your run is over. But NO instead of accepting your defeat, you leave the game as is and go on with your day, thinking about any way to escape death, and then you come back with a clear mind and decide you need to take a gamble on a random scroll, because you're dead either way... Until you realized the scroll you gambled on was a blessed teleportation spell. allowing you to make your unexpected escape and giving you another chance of continuing your run! CRAZYYY Anyways try it! its the BEST!

So much nostalgia packed into one game. If you're like me, and you remember the days of the old ASCII based Nethack games that were on devices like the freaking palm pilot, or even the slightly more modern versions of Nethack that were introduced in around the Windows 2000 era, you'll likely love this game. Absolutely true to the spirit of the original Rogue games. This is a roguelike, pure and simple, and the quest to find the Amulet of Zaw is a direct shout-out to the Amulet of Yendor from the Nethack games. It also plays amazingly similar to Nethack Falcon's eye despite the fact that it is a 2d side-scroller as opposed to a top-down game. The graphics are cartoonish, but good enough to be entertaining, and the game-play while simple enough on the surface, is surprisingly complex. You can literally spend over 100 hours in this single-player game and not learn all the tricks. I've beaten it 3 times in over 139 hours of playing this on the steam platform, once as a Knight, once as a Barbarian, and once as a mod class called Adventurer that starts you off with a bunch of gear, and lets you allocate your stats however you want. I have NEVER beaten it in about 10 hours on the android version (yet). You WILL die, over and over and over, but you will learn more with each play-through, and eventually, you'll conquer the dungeon. This game rewards persistence, and is shamelessly challenging. You think you've died alot in Dark Souls? Okay... Maybe... but still.

Bonkers, silly fun in the best way possible. Endearingly awful retro graphics, with a side of extremely random and chaotic gameplay. The core mechanic - that almost every item is unknown until identified in each playthrough, is a stroke of genius that imo should have been adopted by more games in the genre.

I really like the base of this game, but I hate the stupid wishing system. I'd review neutral if I could. Baseline is this: if you don't like RNG, just forget about this game, it's not going to be for you. If you don't like opaque games with a large effort to payoff ratio, it's not going to be for you. If you love roguelikes, embrace RNG rather than hating it and have no problem with much of your power revolving around a completely stupid exercise in literally remembering the exact strings of items in the game that you want, then there's a great game to be enjoyed here. For me personally I found there was more to dislike than enjoy, but you might be different and I won't deny there ARE definitely fun moments and great enjoyment to be had here. It's complicated.

I love this game, and have played it on many platforms. It truly plays like an old-school turn-based roguelike, but with a more approachable modern interface. It can be considered a spiritual descendant of NetHack. My only wish is for controller support to be added to make it easier to play on the Steam Deck.
