Very cute game, I absolutely love all the little creatures and sprites I do really wish there was more content though you could do after completing the main areas and unlocking them Really all that's left to do is just combining and creating your favorite whimlings, which is just fine, I've had fun, but there's not a lot of incentive after that, or a reason to have the game open for long periods like a lot of other idlers There's no point to just collecting more crystals after a while too once you buy everything lol, if you buy out the shop and all upgrades, there's literally 0 point to gems other than to hoard them, which is kinda sad I think having some extra content would be really cool, especially since I thought the last end constellation thing would unlock a cool area but all it does is just give an achievement and sits there Overall, I do definitely recommend the game, though like alot of other reviews i've seen, I do agree, it's really not an idle game lol, other than if you idle for some eggs and crystals sometimes, but majority, I felt like I had to be there to listen for legendary traits (the jingle) But I did have a lot of fun, even with the limited content, and I still have decorating left anyway 10/10 game though Other than some minimal rage about waiting for the last trait to appear in Sakura, that took an unbelievably long amount of time for it to spawn compared to the other zones but it's chill
8/10: I’ve got mixed feelings about this one. It’s tagged as an ‘idle’ game, but it’s really not idle at all. it needs way more hands on attention. I ended up trying it on my steamdeck (which isn’t fully supported), and somehow got hooked anyway. xD It honestly felt like I was playing a mobile game, constantly checking on my newly bred whimlings. Even though it’s not truly idle, it does require a lot of patience due to the whole whimling breeding mechanic. You’ll need specific combinations to progress through certain objectives, so expect a bit of trial and error. If you’re looking for an idle game, this probably isn’t the right fit~ but if you enjoy creature breeding and slow burn progression, try this game.
It's not really much of a game. Once you collect every gene from an area - there's really no reason to go back to it. Once you have all the genes - there's no reason to ever check the maps again. After you finish breeding up for the achievements / quests you can continue to breed to make the whims you want but there aren't full genes for every species introduced either. There's really no way to interact with any whims you create other than a click every 2 minutes. They have no real interaction with items and they often stayed in one area of the garden despite having the whole area open. I can't downvote the game - it's straight forward and offers what it says. It just doesn't have a lot to offer. There's not enough here to leave it running in the background once everything has been completed. The playtime will also only really vary depending on how long it takes the random gene(s) you're missing to spawn. It has some nice sounds to alert you when missing genes spawn, eggs are made, and such to help you clear the goals though.
I really liked this one. A few things could be touched up, but if you're into creature collectors and breeding to get new combos, this is THE game for that. The whole thing is just that. I like how you progress with having to breed a combo for the next area. Love that you can idle if you want to. Love the art and decoration. The music is cute, though a little annoying after a few hours, so I muted that, but the sounds are a godsend. I relied on the jingle for when a new Whim spawns in, or when my other ones needed to be pet. The egg-cracking sound lets me know my eggs are ready. That saved the game, truly. If that wasn't in this, this game would be way longer and harder. Plus, the inventory doesn't have a limit! That was my biggest fear in the beginning because I picked up EVERY Whim that came on the screen, so there is no worry. You can collect 5000 Whim if you truly want to. That too is amazing, like the sounds. I wish there were a little more to do at the endgame. Once in the sakura area and you have everything unlocked, it's just a waiting game for the parts you're missing out of the book. Otherwise, I honestly had a great time. I recommend it if you know you like games like this.
