The gameplay is simple but fun, and feels kinda like healing in WOW. If you're the kind of masochist who enjoyed that, you'll probably like Wild Growth.

Reminds me of playing a resto druid forever ago. The incremental changes to the abilities, enemies, and warband make it interesting to figure out optimal rotation and placement. If you ever mained a healer, this will feel like a twist on some nostalgia. As a side-quest have a look at the negative reviews and guess what non-healer class they probably main.

Crushes the healing gameplay, decent visuals, rest is meh. If the name wasn't a tip-off that the devs may be druid players, the spells being nearly 1 for 1 copies confirms it. That said, they managed to do an amazing job recreating the interesting parts of MMO healing: the slow ramping downtime, the frantic reactive bursts, the layers of resource management, etc. The healing kit is also really well designed, with each spell adding meaningful gameplay. The damage based mana system is also genius for making the most dangerous moments also the most engaging. The visuals are mostly really nice and clean, great use of programmer art with excellent VFX. They do still manage to get messy sometimes, like in some of the boss fights where the AOE effects cover up the enemy target indicator. The talent tree is OK, it has some fun elements to it like the split currency always letting you make two different choices for upgrades after each fight, and some of the passive upgrades felt really good (getting 100% uptime "under"growth, cast time reductions, tank aura), but there are also a lot of stinkers (1s cd reduction to a 60s skill???), and the pacing of the tree needs a lot of refining, with a lot of it being backloaded. I spend 75% of my gametime with just 3-4 skills, and the last 25% added another 4-5 on top, including some really basic ones like the slow efficient heal(where were you 10 stages ago???). There also isn't any real build-making, there isn't any different builds I could do that would make replaying the game worth it. The weakest part of the game is the grid and unit system. There is a lot of potential to it, and getting some of the new units (frost mage, berserker) and seeing them in action was genuinely exciting, but it's clearly not even half-baked. There are barely any units in the game whatsoever, zero team diversity, the talent tree is set up in a way that greatly limits any options you COULD have while progressing (gee, should I upgrade one unit or three?), and grid placement gives you basically no real choices while being very unsatisfying in general. Feels like the kind of thing that the devs de-prioritized during development to focus on the core gameplay, which is reasonable, but was still a disappointment.

As a raid healer in the earlier WoW days, this game is everything a middle-aged gamer could dream of. Perfectly executed healer sim. The progression in building your healer while progressing through harder and harder dungeons is flawless.

Update: Yeah, I beat the game in a day but it was incredibly fun. There is a leaderboard game to play but I'm not super into that. I really hope the dev makes more content or a bigger sequel. They clearly have a talent for good, challenging, and fair level design. This is not an idle game. Yes it's a clicker but it's super involved. I absolutely love this game. I can see myself finishing the entire game today or tomorrow as it does feel like it'll be relatively short, but for the price point, it's 100% worth it. Really cool concept of keeping your heroes alive as the designated healer. So simple and the challenges are so well designed. Every level feels fresh and losing never feels ultra punishing because each level only lasts a few minutes. 10/10
