With my past is an outstanding puzzle platformer that weaves emotional storytelling into accessible puzzles. The core mechanic is simple, you leave a shadow of yourself that copies your moves with a delay. This by itself is not new but what the game manages to do with is very innovative. As you progress, your relation with your past self evolves in both in gameplay and story. Sometimes, you'll use hide behind your past shadow to avoid turrets. Sometimes you'll need to run away from it. Sometimes, it will help you reach heights you couldn't before. This aspect reminded me a lot of Celeste. The story itself is simple, but the storytelling is excellent. Every puzzle features a few text blurbs relating to the story and the player character's mental state. Moreover, the puzzle solutions themselves become elements of the plot. I was very impressed by how effective the game was in putting the player in the main character's head space with simple puzzles. Overall, I really recommend playing this if you like puzzles and/or emotional stories.
