Don't let the recent backlash against some overpriced merch fool you, it's a good game. I enjoyed my time with it plenty, it's a very fun take on narrative and turn-based horror, highly evocative of its source inspirations. Easily moddable too, if that's your thing.

DISCLAIMER: The game is made by one singular guy with a fulltime job who has a tendency to go radio silent for months or years between updates, there is no way of knowing if the game will receive an update in future so keep that in mind. The publisher is still making and selling new merchandise which is what has gotten a lot of people riled up. There are a handful of promised features that have yet to be delivered and things in the game that are dead ends as of this point, if that's a dealbreaker for you, i understand. Now that that's out of the way, if you're even the slightest bit intrigued by what you see, please do yourself the favour of trying the game, get it on sale if needed. I absolutely love the game and am looking to get into the modding scene for it

Alright first steam review, you bastards forced my hand. Let me explain, this game was made by one person, whom shot themselves in the foot by over-promising much within a much too small of a time frame. This is another tragic early access mishap (early access is a garbage system). And I felt the need to do my part in skewing the reviews more towards positive. Did they take too long to make this game? Maybe. Did they screw up by giving the trailer these amazing black/white animations, making people assume they would be in the game? Yes. (They shouldve just made a standard gameplay trailer, the art is amazing enough to stand on its' own) Does it deserve all the hate and review bombing? No, absolutely not. And just to be clear, you think by review bombing and hating on the developer, that will motivate him to come back and update the game? Why would it, clearly the community has expressed an insane amount of hate towards the dev, I imagine the animosity is two sided at this point. I've been keeping my eye on this game for a long time, and the hate started way before 1.0, if you're curious. I just hope it hasn't soured their motivation to make another game. To Summarize quickly, the game has amazing Junji-Ito Inspired art, Mysteries based/influenced by very obscure japanese horror movies (I caught that Mermaid in the Manhole reference), Tons of random events that makes me see new sick art every time I play. It is a turn based JRPG, Horror, Mystery, Rogue-like, which is unique in and of itself. If you're a massive horror buff or Junji Ito fan, I think you should give it a shot when it's on sale. If you're not a huge horror fan, this may not be for you, because you will be missing a ton of references and details. I do consider the RNG events and rogue-like nature a plus, but some may consider it a minus. ALSO ALL THE ART WAS MADE IN MS PAINT!

Dev has abandoned this game, so do not expect any further updates. That said, there's a sufficient amount of content here and there's a healthy modding community if you're looking for more. Vibes and music are immaculate, definitely worth playing if you are a fan of Junji Ito's work

I personally love the game, though what others are saying that the Dev abandoned the game holds some truth. It's not an expensive game and is met to be replayed with different outcomes and diverging paths. Though it may be "incomplete" I would still strongly recommend the game as it has so much to offer and still is a solid game even in its current state. Pros: -Beautiful and horrifying pixel graphics -Engaging story that will be different every time -Multiple characters all with different stats -Unique Game play with and old school RPG combat style -Multiple endings with different eldritch gods -Affordable price for good quality Cons: -Developer left the project -Difficulty spikes occur frequently -I want to bang some the monsters (I need therapy) World Of Horror is a game I still highly recommend as is.
