Worms Crazy Golf is a wonderfully odd hybrid that blends the irreverent humor of Team17’s long-running Worms franchise with the calmer, more methodical structure of miniature golf. Developed and published by Team17 Digital Ltd, it stands as one of the series’ more unusual spin-offs—one that abandons artillery duels and explosive warfare in favor of a sport that, on paper, seems worlds apart from the usual Worms chaos. Yet the fusion works far better than one might expect. Beneath the silliness lies a surprisingly well-constructed physics-based puzzle game wrapped in the franchise’s signature charm. Instead of controlling teams of worms volleying grenades across destructible terrain, the player guides a single worm golfer across a variety of themed courses. Each hole is presented as a compact puzzle box filled with ramps, springs, teleporters, explosives, moving obstacles, and all the bizarre contraptions one associates with the Worms universe. The basic structure resembles traditional mini golf—you choose an angle, set your power, and sink the ball in as few strokes as possible—but the level design pushes you to experiment with trick shots, chain reactions, and unconventional routes. Many holes have obvious paths, but the best scores come from using hazards creatively: detonating sheep for a bounce, triggering mines to launch the ball across chasms, or ricocheting through tunnels that serve as shortcuts. This emphasis on lateral thinking gives the game much of its identity. The courses themselves are separated into several themed worlds, such as pirate coves, graveyards, and carnival grounds. Each theme introduces its own visual style, ambient tone, and course gimmicks, making the campaign feel varied despite its modest size. The art direction stays true to the Worms formula—bright, cartoonish, and full of visual jokes—but the perspective shift to a 2D golfing layout allows Team17 to play with clarity and tight composition. Every hazard, coin, crate, and environmental object is cleanly readable, and the animations are as exaggerated and expressive as longtime fans would expect. This visual polish is supported by the familiar comedic soundscape: silly voice clips, whimsical music, and explosive sound effects that turn every success or failure into a moment of slapstick. Progression is driven not only by completing holes but by earning coins, unlocking customization items, and replaying stages for better scores. The game includes hats, ball styles, clubs, and voice packs to personalize your worm golfer, which adds a small but enjoyable sense of personality. Challenge modes and additional objectives further extend playtime by pushing players to revisit earlier levels with new goals or restrictions. The hot-seat local multiplayer option is an especially welcome inclusion, encouraging casual competition and letting friends share the simple joy of watching each other’s shots take hilariously unexpected turns. However, Worms Crazy Golf does have limitations that come into focus during longer play sessions. The underlying mechanics are intentionally light and accessible, which means players looking for a deeply technical or precision-based golf game may find the physics unpredictable or overly reliant on environmental gimmicks. Likewise, the game’s level variety, while charming, is not extensive; once you’ve played through each themed world, repetition begins to set in, particularly if you’re aiming for perfect scores. Some holes require multiple attempts due to their dependence on timing or trial-and-error shortcuts, which can frustrate players who prefer steady, deterministic progression. The game’s scope reflects its original design as a smaller, arcade-style spin-off rather than a full-scale sports title. Despite these constraints, Worms Crazy Golf remains an endearing and entertaining experience because it fully embraces what makes the Worms series memorable: humor, unpredictability, and clever physics-driven design. It manages to capture the fun of discovering outrageous shot possibilities while wrapping it all in a structure that is easy to pick up, pleasant to replay, and consistently amusing. The blend of sport and chaos creates an approachable game that appeals both to Worms veterans who want a fresh twist on the franchise and to casual players simply looking for a creative, cartoon-style mini golf title. In the end, Worms Crazy Golf stands out as a charming and well-crafted experiment—one that trades explosions between worms for explosions that help you sink a golf ball. While it may not offer deep mechanics or an expansive campaign, it delivers a fun, upbeat, and memorable take on mini golf that thrives on creativity and good humor. For players in search of a light, colorful, and comically chaotic diversion, it remains one of Team17’s more delightful side projects. Rating: 8/10

A nice flick, simplistic and fun. There is, sadly, no online MP, tho. Just hot seat.
