I feel bad for those who are experiencing crashes but there is presently a way to fix it though I didn't need such myself as I hadn't any technical difficulties. Its quite an interesting little gem though I'll admit had some frustrating moments mostly a certain encounter in Chapter 1 and then later in 6.
After holding off for nearly 5 years, I finally got around to beating this game. It has issues with certain PC's/OS. That's why it took me awhile, I dropped the game since it was unplayable, but for some reason I could play it now without crashes. For a small horror Indie game, its quite charming, gameplay is fine until you start scripted areas and die due to not being precise with your input and where to go. the game give me unlimited tries but that doesn't make the deaths feel fair. For what it is, its a nice small game that'll take 7ish hours, id say its worth it on a good sale and if you don't crash within the 1st 10 minutes. 5.5/10 would not go out looking for my dog in Japan again.
This is my second Yomawari game, and it was a mistake. I think I would enjoy it more as the first one. I played Lost in the Dark before. They are like children's and adults' paintings. They are making the same things, but... you know. It's a raw gem. When you play all three games, you'll be sure which one was the oldest. I was not sure I wanted to finish it. In the end, I finished 100% in under 20 hours. I'm sure you'll need time-farming for the last achievement (50 h).
This holds up pretty well. I haven't played this game in years but it's still a really fun time. I will say, this game is a very slow burn, if you dislike that sort of thing. There is a lot of wandering, and very minimal direction. The game is also 'heavily' trial and error. Expect to die a lot, and I mean a 'lot'. There are numerous traps and spirit patterns and habits are rarely explained at all. None of this bothers me or detracts from my enjoyment of the game, but I know it will for many players so it's worth pointing out these details. Another thing, this game is not optimized for modern pc's, a lot of people, myself included, have issues running the game without getting it to crash. There are solutions on the steam forums that worked for others... the one that worked for me was a suggestion from one user there who suggested the 4GB patcher from ntcore.com. It's a simple usable file that let's you patch any game to use 4gb visual memory instead of less, like older games tend to do. This fixed all of my problems perfectly. I could play the game with no lag or crashes, in fullscreen or windowed, in any resolution I wanted with no more fixes.
