Halfway through the game, I'm gonna write a review. I'll preface this by saying that I am playing this with the English Fan Translation Patch, which is often spotty but serviceable. You can understand most of the dialogue although occasionally things get awkwardly translated or technical limitations cut off text. The patch makes it playable and if you ever have trouble you can google translate the very thorough Chinese guide in the guide section of Steam. Not sure what to call this game, it's definitely got that bioware-ish freedom in how you interact with the world where doing stuff for npcs earn you character stat uprades and new movesets. Think Jade Empire. I'll have to say that this game is more like a point and click adventure game than a diablo. You'll be running around trying every item on every npc trying to progress the side quests. It's fun, and sometimes the quests can be really silly to really serious. Everything from giving a heartbroken man soiled underwear to wipe his tears, to finding evidence to prove someone innocent of a murder charge. Don't skimp on doing these silly side quests too, for example, finding the wine that the crazy shaolin monk wants on the city wall helps you unlock the ultimate moves of one of your martial arts style. The combat is really flashy, and has you flipping around and spamming your attack moves. It's really nice to look at, feels nice, but isn't particularly engaging. This is why I think it is best to see this as a point and click adventure game. The boss fights can be a little bit more tough, but healing items, and character upgrades are not particularly hard to come by if you try doing everything before progressing the story, you should be roughly the right power level to beat the next boss. I'm halfway through the game and only really died once, and dying unlocked a new fighting style which was a nice surprise. Summary of Pros and Cons: Pros: -Music is pretty nice and peaceful. -There is no hand holding, you can tackle things in almost any order -You have to pay attention to every little bit of dialogue as anything could be a hint to solving a puzzle or quest -If you consider the above, it's a very fair and really fun point and click adventure game with some pretty funny events and stories to experience. -It does a lot of the tropes you see in the wuxia drama tv shows and even starts you off right with a cute girl to bicker with. If you like those shows you'll love this game. Cons: -An English localization would definitely be nice. -Combat while fun to look at, isn't particularly deep or engaging. -While the combat isn't very deep or engaging, there also isn't enough of it -The voice acting while good, isn't fully voice acted, the voice acting is reserved for important scenes only. -Although most puzzles were pretty logical, there were a few that had me scratching my head and I would not have solved if not for the guide. -Sometimes you want to save scum for the best possible reward. It's not good for perfectionists. In conclusion, if you are an English speaker, a bit intimidated by the lack of an official English localization, I say if you can get this game for cheap, maybe give it a try with the patch. It's pretty good if you want a good point and click adventure game with a lot of meat. Any failures of the patch can be solved with a quick google translation of the guide posted on steam. It might not be for you if you wanted an actual deep combat heavy action rpg though.
