This is a game that, even though it shows its age, remains a classic, a true little gem. I started playing it decades ago, when it was fairly new, and fell in love. Then I mostly forgot about it, I had it on a computer I got rid of and never thought of reinstalling.... Until I found it here on Steam! It was on offer at less than 2$ so I bought it, installed it, and it works perfectly. Many people here can't run it, but I have one of those PCs that will play whatever you throw at them, an oldish i5 with a good graphic card, very simple setup. I only had to allow Windows to install DirectPlay (Control Panel - Windows Features - Legacy Components). It's still a lot of fun, there are many goals you can set for yourself, the best being to own and run profitably ALL the routes. I am so glad I found my old friend again! Installed it about a week ago and already raked a substantial number of gameplay hours. New players will probably not appreciate it, but for you, older gamers who used to play it, I highly recommend it. Fun, fun, fun!

PLUS: - identical to the old Airline Tycoon Deluxe, the original version. - the game is a good practice for remembering things on your plane agenda on selecting orders. - the game is a good practice for your geographic knowledge. - the game has good bargain offers for plane agendas to pick out between less valuable offers. - the game has a good time frame for doing all the tasks needed within the game day. - the game allows to sabotage other players. - the cartoon drawing style is unique and still one that stands out. - the game has a cheat money code to type: donald trump. CONS: - it rarely, sometimes crashed, but it autosaved, and I can save once in a while... - It is addictive. - The game almost has no pauses, though you can press the Menu button with a nice plane screensaver.

I played this back in the XP era as my first "Tycoon" game and I loved it. My only complaints is that the path to winning doesn't have a lot of options and there can be stability issues depending on settings. It's not the best game but you can't beat the charm of the sprite graphics.

I still play this game after almost 30 years. I wish it was possible to expand upon this game and keep the funny tone. Once you can afford the expensive planes and can set up a good route, the game just plays itself and gets boring real fast. There's nothing to do after this - the only fun part is growing your airline until this point.

I can't count the time I invested in this game. I owned it as a CD-Rom back in the late 90s, when the original game came out. Back when PetrolAir was called ArabAir and some voices were different. Airline Tycoon is by far no game for everyone. It can be repetetive and get boring to most people. But I love this game so much. Back in the days I sat at my PC as a young boy with my grandpa and we would play night after night until we owned every route with a couple of hundred aircrafts. It was a blast and even now, almost 30 years after its original release, Airline Tycoon is just fun and enjoyable.
