This is one of THE scariest games I’ve played in a very long time! Even tho I beat it like 4 times, it’s still difficult and scary! If you want a very horrifying and challenging experience, this the game!

When I first heard his footsteps behind me, I thought the game was joking. But no – Aka Manto doesn't let you breathe. Literally. This short but intense Japanese horror game really surprised me. The atmosphere is thick, the visuals boost the tension, and that feeling when you're running down the hallway and hear him behind you… no thanks. 🔪 What the game offers: + A tense chase that keeps you constantly on edge + Creepy atmosphere inspired by a Japanese urban legend + Short and intense length (30–60 minutes) + A challenge in the form of achievements & trading cards + A large school map you’ll learn to love and hate + Price matches the experience ❗ What might bother some: – Can feel a bit confusing on your first playthrough If you enjoy horror games that get straight to the point, this one definitely won’t leave you cold. Get ready for panic, confusion, and a solid shot of adrenaline. I’ve played it several times, and every time that moment hits—when you hear his footsteps—it gets me again. 🩸 Verdict: Short, intense, like a nightmare that won’t let go for a while. Highly recommended for any horror fan!

This is actually a really good game. It's difficult but not overly difficult if you know what you are doing. If you are going in blind then you will need to play this game a couple of times to learn everything to get either endings. I've seen other reviews found it annoying how the ghost pops up out of no where at times but I thought it added to the scariness of the game. And no matter how many times I've played this game, the sound effects of the killer still gives me chills. I hate being chased in video games and having such loud rattling sounds combined really left me on edge and my heart racing. While this game isn't grand in its makeup, it's still a good game nonetheless. The controls are simple, they are smooth and not janky, you have a standing chance to get away from the killer (though I found it to be a little too easy at times), the graphics really add to the atmosphere, and the story wasn't too bad either. You also don't have a save option so you really have to be careful, quick, and use your resources wisely. Like I said, its a simple horror game, so anyone wanting to try it out don't expect over the top game play. You find items, avoid the antagonist, and escape. Its something nice to dip your toes into if you are wanting to explore Chilla's Art or just the horror genre in general. I do want to point out that first time players with no knowledge of this game will probably feel overwhelmed and overall, confused by the game, it's mission/goal, and the map itself. I wish we had a map to help us navigate because holy moly did I go around in circles a lot. While others have said Aka Manto is overpowered (which I do not disagree with), I don't see it as a bad thing. It just makes the game more difficult. It puts you on edge and makes you have to stop and be extremely careful. The killer himself is buggy at times, having him run right through me or sees me before vanishing without triggering the chase sequence. If Chilla's Art ever revisits their older games, I hope they revisit this one and do more with it because I think it can be built on and be made better in certain aspects like the killer mechanics, save options, a map to transverse the school, more slots to hold items, etc. Like I said, it is a good game where is stands now, but it can definitely be turned into something more.

this game will probably not be for everyone due to its very challenging gameplay and puzzles that might not be obvious at first glance, but if you're willing to put in a bit of time and effort to give it a couple tries, i think its worth it. i absolutely love the style of this game and it definitely lives up to the horrifying expectations i had going in. pretty cool!

It's like someone took my childhood nightmares and gave them a retro makeover. I'm ten hours in, and honestly, it's INSANITY!!!! Aka Manto is not just a game; it's a cardiovascular workout. The sheer turmoil of having to sprint away from a malevolent spirit with a penchant for bathroom stalls is both terrifying and hilariously absurd. One moment, you're contemplating life while staring at a rusty toilet; the next, you're running for your pixelated life, screaming internally (or externally, no judgment). The thrill of narrowly escaping Aka Manto's grasp is matched only by the ridiculousness of the situations you find yourself in. There's nothing quite like the rush of slamming a door shut in a desperate bid for survival, only to realize you've trapped yourself in a broom closet. The sheer absurdity of these moments makes the terror worth it. It's a game that keeps you on your toes—and laughing at your own misfortune. So yeah, Aka Manto is a blast from the past with a side of “why am I doing this to myself?” If you love retro graphics, heart-pounding chases and want to question your sanity every time you turn a corner, this game is your ticket to an unforgettable (and slightly traumatizing) experience. 10/10, would totally freak out again.
