the definition of casual shooters in my opinion: guns and shooting alien bugs, simple as that. A great game to play on weekends. a bit repetitive at some points, but if you re for the story it is a good story. it is advised to buy the trilogy when it s on sale

This is a really good evolution of the original Amiga games. If you liked them you'll love these. Well designed levels and progression. Pushes you forward and doesnt waste your time....having just completed I say you are going to want to buy the trilogy as it feels fairly short. My only issues are the terminal screen is colour-blindness simulation being entirely in blue and the camera control is manual (something Ive heard is fixed in the sequels.) Will really shine as a 2-player which is part of what made the original classic.

Alien Breed: Impact, developed by Team17 Software Ltd. and published by Team17 Digital Ltd., is a modern reimagining of the long-running Alien Breed franchise, updating the classic top-down shooter formula with contemporary visuals and twin-stick mechanics. Originally rooted in early 1990s run-and-gun action, the series returns here as a sci-fi survival shooter powered by Unreal Engine 3, blending arcade intensity with atmospheric horror elements. Set aboard a crippled starship overrun by alien lifeforms, the game places players in the role of engineer Conrad, who must fight through infested corridors while attempting to stabilize the doomed vessel. The narrative framework is straightforward but effective. After a catastrophic collision between the starship Leopold and a mysterious alien craft, Conrad is left stranded in a labyrinth of damaged systems and hostile creatures. The story unfolds through brief in-game dialogue and comic-style cutscenes rather than lengthy cinematics, keeping the pacing focused on gameplay. The sense of isolation and impending disaster provides a thematic backbone, even if the plot itself remains relatively simple and functional. Gameplay revolves around twin-stick shooting mechanics, allowing players to move independently from their aiming direction. This control scheme is essential when dealing with swarms of aggressive alien enemies that attack from multiple angles. Combat is fast-paced and often overwhelming, requiring constant repositioning and resource management. Players have access to a range of weapons, including rifles, shotguns, flamethrowers, and grenades, which can be upgraded using credits found throughout levels. While the weapon progression system offers incremental improvements, the overall combat rhythm remains consistent across the campaign. Exploration plays a meaningful role in the structure of each mission. Levels consist of interconnected corridors and compartments where players must activate consoles, repair systems, locate keycards, and unlock sealed sections. This objective-based design reinforces the survival atmosphere but can also introduce repetition. Backtracking is common, and many missions follow a similar pattern of reaching a location, triggering an event, and fighting through newly spawned enemies. While this formula maintains steady action, it limits mechanical variety over extended sessions. Visually, Alien Breed: Impact stands out for its detailed environments and moody lighting. Industrial ship interiors are rendered with metallic textures, flickering lights, and environmental effects that enhance immersion. The use of shadows and particle effects adds tension, especially during heavy combat sequences. The aliens themselves are grotesque and varied in appearance, though their behavioral patterns are less diverse. Sound design complements the visual atmosphere with mechanical hums, distant alarms, and aggressive creature noises that sustain a constant sense of threat. One of the game’s strengths is its cooperative mode. Both local and online co-op are supported, allowing two players to tackle the campaign together. Cooperative play adds tactical depth, as players can cover different angles, revive one another, and share resources. This mode enhances replayability and mitigates some of the monotony that may arise in solo play. While the core objectives remain unchanged, the dynamic of working alongside a partner injects additional excitement into encounters. Despite its solid foundation, Alien Breed: Impact does not significantly innovate within the genre. Enemy variety, while visually distinct, often relies on similar attack behaviors. Mission structures tend to repeat, and the progression system does not dramatically alter gameplay styles. However, the game succeeds in delivering polished arcade-style action with a strong sci-fi horror aesthetic. Its tight controls, satisfying combat loop, and atmospheric presentation make it an engaging experience, particularly for players who appreciate classic top-down shooters with modern visual upgrades. Ultimately, Alien Breed: Impact is a faithful revival of a beloved franchise that emphasizes action over complexity. It offers intense twin-stick shooting, cooperative gameplay, and a well-realized sci-fi setting, even if it occasionally struggles with repetition and limited mechanical evolution. For fans of arcade-style shooters and survival-themed sci-fi environments, it provides a focused and enjoyable campaign that captures the spirit of its predecessors while embracing modern presentation standards. Decent game for the genre it sets out to be. Good to see more of the old classics given a re-imagining.

Different Side story Cannon Alien Story... These games are really neat not something that I would consider to play non stop until I beat them but they are really cool in the aspect of the over head view alien shooter games where you are playing a story as a space marine going through and completing various missions whether from making sure that the spread of them stops or trying to save some intel from a dying ship that is about to self destruct. I think they did a good job at making this and ensuring that the player is immersed in the game play of it. Sure the graphics on it are very old but when its a good game, its a good game. I bought these game on a sale as a bundle and it was on a dumb sale and highly recommend the same just for the fact of the cannon of the game and that the shelf life of these games that been out for a while.
