this game makes me feel like a kid again. Reminds me of the days my dad would chase me through the walls and the only form of defense I had was my dead brothers nerf gun.

Best survival horror game currently available. Playing the other amnesia games is not required at all; this game is the perfect standalone horror game experience

Amnesia: The Bunker is the latest entry in the franchise that looks to change up the formula that ultimately panned out for Frictional Games. I’ll start by highlighting how the atmosphere is one of the best aspects, as it truly gives the eerie vibes that make players terrified throughout their journey in the bunker. This sense of helplessness is felt even more in the higher difficulties. Now, to complement the chilling atmosphere, the “Beast” is introduced as a stalker enemy that keeps the game interesting with its random behavior that will have you drop whatever you’re doing and hide. But fear not, the “Beast” only wants to give you a big hug :) One other thing is how the sound design does an amazing job of immersing players in being alert for even the subtle noises. You know horror is done right when the player is constantly watching their surroundings and slowly creeping around areas… There are also rats and these are no ordinary rats, so this further justified my hate towards them more lol. Now, for the gameplay, which is another strong core, sees players manage key items and resources in their inventory to survive from the darkness within the bunker. This is what I found to be most enjoyable because it gives players freedom/choice on what to bring, including being conservative for later areas that may prove more challenging. Also, as a survival horror game, the environment may be one of the most vital elements that can help a player out in a rough situation. Always try things out, as the game encourages! Finally, the story is definitely where this game falls short. Don’t expect a complex narrative, but that doesn’t mean it fails to deliver on what it sets out to do. You have a clear objective that is required of you. And as you scour the notes within the bunker, you learn more about what disturbing things happened. Ultimately, the story accomplishes what it strived for, and the ending is a satisfying way to conclude this chapter in the franchise In my initial playthrough on normal, it was fun exploring the creepy bunker, all while getting lost and eventually making progress. I will say that the game is even more tense (which is good thing) when playing on higher difficulties, as your resources are much limited and the Beast is far more aggressive, which further escalates the horror. Additionally, I never felt the game was unfair, another bonus. Closing: Highly recommend it to those fans of survival horror! While not your usual amnesia game, you can still appreciate what the devs cooked up here and one could imagine what a amnesia title can look if it combines dark descent writing and bunker gameplay…

Amnesia: The Bunker Review - 10/10 After years of loving the Amnesia series, I can confidently say that The Bunker is not just the best entry in the franchise—it's my favorite horror game of all time. What makes The Bunker so exceptional is how it weaponizes your sense of security against you. For the first half of the game, you establish routines and safe spaces. You learn where the generator is, you figure out which rooms offer sanctuary, and you start to feel like you have some control over this nightmare. Then, mid-way through the story, everything changes. Suddenly there's a hole where there wasn't one before. The locks that kept you safe in certain rooms are simply gone. The game doesn't announce these changes with fanfare—they just happen, and you're left wondering if you're losing your mind or if the bunker itself is actively working against you. Those spaces you thought were safe? They're not anymore, and the game never tells you why. It's like the environment itself is changing so much that you question if it was there to begin with. It makes you go slowly insane and grow paranoid. What I love most about this game is how it respects the legacy of the Amnesia series while pushing the formula in bold new directions. The previous games were masterful at psychological horror, but The Bunker adds this layer of environmental betrayal that makes you question everything you think you know about the space you're trapped in. It's not just that the monster is hunting you—it's that the bunker itself seems to be against your survival. It's everything I want from horror gaming: smart, terrifying, and completely unforgettable. This is peak horror game design.
