A fantastic game that is great for those who love to find secrets. Some recent reviews have been negative as a result of game crashes caused by Windows updates, but on my Linux system I have had no issues.

One of the best retro shooters, that feels like Duke Nukem 3D contemporary and not an imitation from 2020s. Cool weapons. Great levels. Peak design.

Picked this one up on a whim and ended up knee-deep in blood, steel, and medieval chaos and I loved every second of it. Arthurian Legends is the kind of game that slaps you with a broadsword and then asks if you’re worthy. Spoiler: You’re not. But you’ll try anyway. And here’s the kicker this game was made using Engine 001. That’s right. Not Unreal, not Unity. Engine 001. I didn’t even know people still used that engine, let alone could squeeze out something this brutal and polished with it. Seriously, I’m floored. This feels like one of those lost Build engine games from the '90s, except it’s new and made by someone who clearly lives and breathes the genre. Combat: Absolutely savage. It’s like Hexen, Duke Nukem, and a meat grinder had a baby. You’re swinging swords, throwing axes, bashing skulls, and setting heretics on fire. There’s no hand-holding here just pure medieval violence with chunky, satisfying sound design and enemies that explode into glorious pixelated chunks. Level Design: Feels straight out of the retro FPS golden era. Tight corridors, hidden secrets, environmental traps, and rooms filled with enemies just waiting to ruin your day. Every level has personality, from dungeons to castles to cursed swamps where you’re not sure if the environment or the enemy is going to kill you first. Visuals and Atmosphere: Retro, gritty, and unnapologetically bloody. It’s like someone found a forgotten DOS game, dusted it off, and gave it a second life. The atmosphere is so thick with dark fantasy vibes you’ll start hearing Gregorian chanting in your head after a few hours. Weapons: You’ve got your classic sword, throwable axes, burning oil, and a few nasty surprises. Each weapon feels meaty, brutal, and built for turning cultists into paste. Also, the magic scrolls? Pure chaos. Highly recommend. Final Thoughts: Arthurian Legends doesn’t just pay homage to the retro FPS era it resurrects it, smacks it across the face with a shield, and rides into battle screaming. The fact that this was built with Engine 001 makes it even more impressive. It’s like finding out someone made a castle out of LEGO... during a hurricane.

Great game and a lot of fun! I particularly enjoy the art direction, weapons, and environments. There are some extra game modes too that unlock as you progress. Hopefully, the developer will return to update and fix some of the quirky save and menu mechanics which took a lot of getting used to between game-pad and keyboard. I had also lost my initial save somehow and had to start over once.

Where the hell was this game hiding and why is no one talking about it? An absolute masterpiece of old school boomer shooter design where every weapon serves a purpose (and you get a bunch of them, plus the ability to dual wield 'em). On top of your melee weapons and shelds you also get some magic spells, staff, traps and potions. Enemies aren't as plenty as in other games but are varied enough and present such a constant threat and challenge than even engaging with 2 or 3 at a time is asking for a bad time. Almost none of them are annoying (except the flying enemies on the first chapter, fuck those) Level design is very intricate yet not labyrinthian enough to necessitate a map nor make you loose your head walking in circles (except for E3M3) and very rewarding of exploration as there's secrets a plenty. it's only downsides is it's performance as frames tend to drop quicker than your HP but understandable as this is the dev's first game if I'm not mistaken.
