March 2025
First things first, this game is really cheap and that is doing some heavy lifting, this game is like every add for those fake MMO games you've ever seen on mobile (you know those that are just renders with colorful loot and random high numbers) Graphics are AI generated at best and mobile stock models at worst but I have to give the game that it runs smoothly, even with a million effects and mobs on screen I did not stutter. If there's an actual human behind the pencil for the 2D images though then I'm sorry but you've mastered the skill of making AI looking art and you have my condolences for the worst art skill to have. Gameplay is janky but simple, you have HP, Cooldowns and you can move, basic attack, dash and use a special ability, in options you can enable auto aim, auto level, auto use special and more functions I didn't bother with, there are 3 modes to play, main, Greater rift (yes it's called that) and Endless, main was the most interesting one in my opinion, you're dropped on a map with branching paths with each area having en activity, Normal combat, Elite combat, Event, Camp and Boss fight, completing any activity (besides camp) opens up a caravan shop with reroll mechanics. Combat is a box arena on a timer. Elite version has more hard hitting high HP enemies spawn in. Boss fights are also box arena style but last until you defeat the boss. Camps are your combined utility activities with healing, selling, upgrading and 3 different shops with black market (for consumables), high end (mostly epic or legendary items) and skills (incase you don't like the ones you have) there is no limit to how many of them you do. Events are just random little side story things that can mostly give you items for free so long as you have the required skill level, stats or sometimes trivia knowledge, most of them are generic but some of them are references that are sometimes very on the nose " defending some hobbits from a demon called Balrog " but there's one mayor flaw with these events, they are ALL 2D ink on parchment style, which isn't bad by itself, but the fact that there are in-game full color graphics of the events makes it horrible. Endless mode is just long battles with no activity choice, I only played it once to get the achievement for clearing level 10 on endless Greater rifting is like endless mode, but you can choose which items you want and in what order up to a max amount, with the catch being that you Can't get any more/other items, the countdown is not for when it ends either but for when you fail, if you want to progress you have to defeat mobs as fast as possible and fill a percentage bar because failure means you can't go to the next difficulty, and when you go to the next difficulty then you start over from level 1 again with none of the items besides your starting load-out. (Also you get a lot more gemstones for progression in this mode) Progression is not anything new it's just a lot of basics mashed into one game, we have facility building/upgrading, character unlocking, character weapon & weapon skill unlocking, skill trees, stat increases, gems with more stat increases and an artifact collection where you can reroll affixes for items so you can start with an exact copy of an item with 3x+10%crit AND you can also randomly find it with those stats in a run, we also randomly have affection levels that just unlock stuff if you max them out. It's slop, but it's cheap slop 🤷

When the publisher abandoned the company they could have taken what money they had and left. Instead on their discord they offered free copies to those who owned the game if they wanted a free copy of the second iteration of the game release. I choose to purchase it since the game had some spark I wanted to see grow. It often still feels early access at times but you can tell there's passion behind the game and in this franchise for such a low cost and with a demo it's worth at least a chance.

Well, I downloaded the demo, completed, bought the game, played for 2 and half hours. It has a couple minor things that I would like to see improved, such as the audio. It is kind of "meh". On easy, first time players will have a fun experience that will prepare them for later levels. You aren't punished for starting on easy. Makes for a fantastic welcoming experience for new Action Roguelike players. The controls feel fantastic. I prefer to play these types of titles with a controller. This feels like they really considered it. As for M/KB, it feels as good as the controller. Last thing of note. You start with the demo to see if it is right for you. Save your progress, and take it with you to the purchased game. No starting over, unless you want too.

AI art is questionable at best, but game itself is solid good. A nice take on survival sub-genre with more heavy roguelike elements to it. Looking forward to next DLCs and updates. Keep cooking.
