An interesting wrinkle on the "inventory management" and "auto-battler" genres. not really a "creature collector" other than that your backpack items are elemental monsters. This is the type of game I would much rather spend a few bucks on than play a FTP game with toxic monetization edits: So I played this game a lot more, so obviously I continued to really like it, but I do have a couple of additions that I think are mostly negative. They don't change that I overall like the game, or that I still think you should play it, but worth the warnings: The game only pretends that it is even vaguely multiplayer. Once you've played for a while you start to recognize that there are actually a relatively small number of available opponents that you face each round, rather than facing random freeze frames of other players. This does allow you to maintain a high win rate, but it does take some of the excitement out of it. One of the chievos is bugged. (it isn't the rarest by a fair margin, so it is obtainable, but not in the way listed on the chievo) sad to get 150 hours into a game and be pushing for the last few chievos only to find one doesn't work right. Dev is way behind schedule on planned updates, and has been responding for 3 months now about a patch coming out "any day now" that will fix problems people are having

Despite the negative reviews for this game, I went with my gut and decided to buy it. It takes a little time to get the hang of it, as the in-game tutorial isn't super helpful, but the devs have posted youtube videos explaining the game further. The negative reviews are from before the devs returned to the game and brought back online co-op. While it is not THE BEST game I have ever played, I still think it is pretty fun and I am enjoying it a lot. Especially since it is a game that is very easy to start up and put down as needed if you are playing it during breaks at work or other situations where you don't have time to devote a long span of time to playing.

While this game has had it's ups and downs i fully believe it is better than it has ever been right now. The Leaderboard is back, The Devs interact and keep up with the community, and most importantly its fun as heck! It's easy to get into but a bit hard to master and while yes some elements may be better than others *Cough* Fire... the only limits to whatever strategy you wanna attempt is a tiny bit of luck and your own creativity.

MAY 2025 EDIT:// The devs have purchased the rights to the game and escaped their former publisher, and in doing so, they have turned the servers back on. Get this game! It's made by good people and it's a good title worthy of your time and investment. Previous Review: I am writing this review with a heavy heart. I have put a lot of hours into this game because it polished the experience of an autobattler to a mirror-sheen. Start small, build your team, adapt to the options you're given, battle through the ranks... usually, lose, and try it again! There's a lot of mechanical complexity tucked away under the veneer of cute critters to draw you in, with everything from a fusion system to traits you unlock during each run which can drastically alter your strategy going forward. On top of that, development was SNAPPY, bugs being fixed and updates being pushed at a rate that wowed me -- not just patches, but whole mechanics added at a regular clip. I've recommended the hell out of this to my loved ones and the people I talk to who also have the sickness which makes us enjoy autobattlers... but, all good things come to an end, right? Specifically, what's come to an end appears to be the development of NeoDuel, as well as its online servers. For all the development this game has gotten from the dev team (and I truly wish them all the best,) it seems that financially it hasn't worked out so well. I know online games are costly to keep alive at the best of times, so perhaps the game sales are worse behind the scenes than the pace of development would otherwise suggest -- which is a shame, because this game was damn solid and a real treat to unwind with even when I was on a losing streak. But, while I have empathy for the devteam and their circumstances, at the end of the day, we won't be getting the rest of the promised content for this game. The developers have set up the game so you can still battle NPCs trained on the data of battles we've all had, and I appreciate that the game at least still works in some respect -- but that's not the sort of game we were sold, either. While I'm a casual scrub that only gets sweaty over a certain other monster battling franchise, I understand that live battling and online leaderboards matter to a lot of other people -- and for those people, this game is basically dead in the water, now. Thus, I can no longer recommend NeoDuel to others, because as much fun as I've had with it, it's a fundamentally different game now. It is what it is -- I'll probably still play the offline mode here and there, because it really is hard to set this game aside once you've started playing it. But I can't recommend others join me in good conscience knowing that the game will never be feature-complete. It is what it is!
