The negative reviews lately were of the game crashing on newer PCs, which was indeed disheartening. But do not fret, it's time to rejoice and praise the Omnissiah, because the fix had been found. - either by adjusting launch parameters: https://steamcommunity.com/app/573100/discussions/0/4291439538014270743/ - or changing the registry keys: https://steamcommunity.com/app/573100/discussions/0/3196993316877456645/ I tried the latter and it worked.
Game is great fun, I see a lot of reviews about the game being unplayable due to crashes, especially on modern computers. But I have been playing the game for two weeks with not a single crash only dropping below 100FPS once late into a campaign. I think it may be hit or miss with luck, so if you buy be prepared to possibly have to refund but otherwise I recommend if you're fan of Warhammer 40k Windows 11 Geforce 5060 Ram 16GB Intel Core Ultra 5 225F (3.30 GHz)
While I'm going to mark the game as recommended, only to support the game as well as this series of games for the franchise to continue producing, I have to complain about how difficult it was just to get the game launched. Why Games Workshop? Why rely on an anti-cheat service that is incompatible with your users systems? If it wasn't for my love of Battlefleet Gothic Armada I, I would never have spent 30ish minutes attempting to find a solution. There were also many tiny bugs I had to get past when I first launched the game. Now that I've managed to get into the game, I'm sure that I'll enjoy it. It's just sad that there are going to be thousands of players who would've bought this game and enjoyed it, but you decided not to work on this problem as well as many bugs.
Beware if you have a gaming computer, this game is incompatible with the newer graphics cards. I've tried it on 2 different machines and it simply crashes and closes shortly after boot up on both of them. I Googled the issue and it is apparently well known. Probably why it's currently on sale so cheap. It's been like this since it's release so I guess there are no plans to fix it. Too bad, looks like a fun game. Update: I found a fix on Google: OpenSSL Fix (Most Common): Right-click the game in Steam -> Properties -> Launch Options, and paste: cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 && %command%". Now it works. I've only played a little but the devs get a preliminary thumbs up just for addressing the problem. Also, the game still looks like a blast even after only a few minutes of (finally) getting to play it.
This game is just peak. its very complicated and full of mechanics but its so flushed out and really easy to understand and get the hang of. I never felt overwhelmed by the mechanics, just overwhelmed by the tyranids! This game makes me feel like a an Admiral of the Imperial Navy. My shower thoughts are now all about strategizing my next battle and how to build my fleet. Ignore the recent reviews of the game not working, i got it a couple of days ago (feb 7 2026) it works just fine. For The Emperor!
