Beware if you have a gaming computer, this game is incompatible with the newer graphics cards. I've tried it on 2 different machines and it simply crashes and closes shortly after boot up on both of them. I Googled the issue and it is apparently well known. Probably why it's currently on sale so cheap. It's been like this since it's release so I guess there are no plans to fix it. Too bad, looks like a fun game. Update: I found a fix on Google: OpenSSL Fix (Most Common): Right-click the game in Steam -> Properties -> Launch Options, and paste: cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 && %command%". Now it works. I've only played a little but the devs get a preliminary thumbs up just for addressing the problem. Also, the game still looks like a blast even after only a few minutes of (finally) getting to play it.

Hey...The game's mid and will never leave 5 out of 10 because the devs abandoned it after releasing the chaos dlc. They LITERALLY could've milked to hell and back with campaign dlcs for all the races but nope. 1 dlc and jumped ship. The core problem IS the AI itself. Its either really good or piss poor.

*Very Important: I played this on a native Windows 10 PC.* I know people have problems on Windows 11 and you need tech fixes to get it running so thats important. But for me the game ran smooth as water. 0 Issues / 0 crashes / 0 lag ___________________ Glory for the Emperor. I just finished the IMperium campaign and there are 3 more!!!!!! This game is basically a simplified Total War 40k in Space. I wont be surprised the recently announced actual TW to have taken some things from Armada. The story and setting are beautiful integrated with each other. Gameplay loop is awesome but it does get a bit grindy as there are just so many attack constantly nagging your systems and as you conquere more sectors it becomes a bit of a chore to managed the attacks. There are multiple plots to follow 1 for each faction you fight so that was a very nice touch. The story was really good and made total sense. Absolute Cinema as they say! My only regret is this title apperantly flew under the radar and not too many people got into it. It really is sooo good. I hope the devs patch it for Win11 and allow more people to experience it. Super under-appreciated game! 9/10 Would Conquer Cadia again!

For those suffering under Win 11 due to easy anti cheat the following method worked for me on at least making single player work. Right click the game in your steam library, general and put the following into launch options: "YOURDRIVELETTER:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Battlefleet Gothic Armada II\BattlefleetGothic2\Binaries\Win64\BattlefleetGothic2-Win64-Shipping.exe" -NoEAC %COMMAND% Modify the path as needed and obviously replace YOURDRIVELETTER: with, well, your drive letter eg.: C: or wherever you have the game installed. And yes you have to put the part before -NoEAC %COMMAND% between "" Normally the -NoEAC flag does not work unless you specify the path to the MAIN binary, not the one immediately in the folder. And yes the %COMMAND% part is important. Solution is not mine, found it on reddit so thanks Reddit (won't link from who as their account is nsfw as it turns out). Feel free to uninstall EAC also, f--king pointless anyway and I'm not going to disable stack protection for one game. Devs don't seem to give a s--t so I hope the above helps someone. Game is good otherwise if you are into 40k and RTS, recommend even despite the above.

Caution!: The bug that causes the game to crash a few minutes after launching seems to still exist (October 3, 2025). There are possible solutions available online that resolve the problem, but they require specific adjustments in OpenSSL 1.2. An alternative option for those who don't play online: simply turn off the internet on your computer after starting the game; then the error won't occur either. Otherwise: I'm a huge Warhammer 40k fan, and the game completely fulfills my expectations of the universe. Good graphics and mechanics. I would personally appreciate more campaigns that cover all playable races, but otherwise, it's a good game.
