Someone just thought "wait, what if we make bongo cat but cooler?" and came up with this gem. Yeah, it has a pricetag and not free like bongo, but it offers so much for symbolic payment. - Once you unlocked a customization - it's with you forever, even if you use it to trade for an item of higher quality; - You need only 5 items of same quality to combine, instead of 10; - Items have chance to drop with each action, there's no set timer to "get the treasure chest"; - YOU CAN MOD THIS THING! You can add your own blorbos and share them with community, and this is like the biggest appeal of Bit Buddy on top of other points listed above! Strongly recommend if you're a fan of silly desktop additions such as Bongo Cat or Tap Tap Loot, can't wait to try myself adding my beloved characters to tap with me while I work or play games :]

I absolutely love the idea of this app ;( the only thing that's genuinely disappointing for me is that it unfortunately doesn't work for me whenever I play other games (mostly fullscreen), the critter then just freezes and only works whenever I quit fullscreen, anyone knows how may I fix it?

I bought this on a whim and honestly? It's way more charming than I expected. Bit Buddy is basically a little virtual pet that sits on your desktop and reacts to everything you do, typing, clicking, moving your mouse. It sounds silly, but after a few hours of work you start noticing the little guy out of the corner of your eye and it genuinely makes you smile. Long study sessions feel a little less miserable when there's a tiny companion vibing with you. The collection aspect is what really got me hooked though. There are 600+ accessories and skins, and you unlock them just by... using your computer. No weird tasks, no microtransactions, just normal use. Great! One thing that bummed me out though, it doesn't detect drawing tablet input. As someone who spends a good chunk of my day on a pen tablet, I'd love to see my Bit Buddy react while I'm drawing. Feels like a missed opportunity, especially since artists tend to love this kind of thing. Hopefully the devs add support for that down the line.

A vastly superior alternative to bongo cat, not just in input display (buddy moving the mouse or banging a controller never gets old), but also in item variety, drop rate, and customization. A lot of the individual pieces are viable for mixing and matching so you're not trapped tediously recreating an item set. You can have a well dressed buddy you like almost immediately. As a result, getting items doesn't feel like bongo cat's disappointing, punishing grind. The optional effects are really fun as well. You can scale your buddy up or down so it will generally fit into even the busiest game UIs. I love my buddy. 😌

I've spent more on a single kebab and my constant supply of Monster Energy(TM). The one drawback to this program is that it forces you to “play” it through Steam. Unlike Wallpaper Engine which can run independently without Steam being open, this app requires Steam to stay active, and it doesn't launch on start-up which means it shows up as a running game and can interfere with or block you from playing other titles at the same time. The ability to collect accessories is pretty cool, my buddy is currently an octopus with a bunch of tentacles and floating shadow eyes all around it, when I type it viciously slams it's tentacles onto the keyboard and it's a nice little addition to my RainMeter setup. To be clear: the program itself works great, but the mandatory Steam runtime is unnecessary friction that hurts the overall experience. I still recommend the game but if I gave it a rating this alone would be worthy of knocking a star off.
