Another tidy up game, except this one has a whole mall to clean. They're not kidding when they say 32,000 items - you're gonna spend a lot of time in this to finish it. Like the other ones, don't play if you're expecting exciting gameplay. But the people like me who buy these know what they're getting, and enjoy it all the same. If you're OCD, autistic, whatever, you'll likely enjoy it. Physics in this are kinda bad, clothes are stiff as boards, but if they did cloth simulation in this game you'd probably need a NASA computer.
Black Friday Janitor: Clean the Whole Mall Developer : blackfridayjanitor Publisher : blackfridayjanitor Introduction ========== When Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Librarian released, little did we know about the literal FLOOD of similar games that would be coming after it. These games scratch a massive itch in my brain, so I am a big fan of them. I've bought and played many, but Black Friday Janitor: Clean the Whole Mall is probably the best one so far! It's a good thing games in this genre tend to be on the cheaper side. Gameplay ========== You should be familiar with the concept of this game if you've played any other tidy up games, but in case you haven't......you are dropped into a huge mall that looks like a hurricane has blown through it. Everything is scattered on the floor and it's your job to pickup, sort, and put everything back where it belongs. At first this is extremely daunting, as the number of stores and number of products in each store can be a bit much. But start small - pick one store and stay in it until you are finished. Luckily, about 98% of items are in their respective stores. The other 2% is right outside or near the entrance, so you won't be trekking across the entire mall looking for things. As you get things where they need to go, you earn Experience. When you get enough, you level up and get Training Points. These points can be spent on skills to make your life a LOT easier, and since there are no achievements for completing tasks without using these skills (like Librarian had) I suggest you use them, and use them FREQUENTLY!!! Not only will you finish things much faster, but it's highly satisfying to use them! In addition to picking up and sorting items, you can also pickup and put objects back into the environment...stuff like chairs, benches, trashcans, signs, and plants that have been turned/knocked over. There's also trash EVERYWHERE that needs to be cleaned up, but luckily you just click those to deal with them. You do not need to pick it up and deposit it in a trashcan! Graphics ========== Everything looks fine for what it is, but I wouldn't expect mind-blowing realism from this game or anything else in the genre. You can tell what everything is, shelves and displays look nice, clothes and groceries are modeled well, and the mall layout is pretty well-designed. There's not much to say here, honestly. My only complaint about this game is that when you use the skill to highlight other items or to highlight where the item goes, it's a little difficult to see the highlight sometimes. Adding the option to let us change that highlight color and/or thickness would be very helpful! Sound and Music ========== Much like the graphics section above, there isn't much going on here. There are a couple of quiet, chill ambient tracks that play in the background as you work, but they aren't anything to write home about. It's just something to fill the dead air of the game and it does that perfectly fine. I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase a soundtrack if it were offered, but what's here is serviceable. Performance ========== The game ran perfectly. It's not super demanding graphically, and I didn't hit any crashes, lag, stuttering, or screen tearing. I played with mouse and keyboard, but the Store Page says the game has full controller support for those who prefer it. I didn't try it as I felt M+KB worked best for me. Final Thoughts ========== This has been my favorite "tidy up" game so far, and if you are a fan of this new booming genre you'll enjoy it immensely. I suggest saving the grocery store (Gilbert's) and the department store (Peer's) for last after leveling up your Gather skill. Also avoid the Cinema until you level up Trash Pickup a bit or else it gets really tedious. Final Verdict: ========== Highly Recommended
This is probably my favorite of these clean up games I've played so far. It's huge, but it's broken into smaller stores, The grocery store and department store alone are each bigger than most entire games of this sort. Appealing graphics, lots of variety. Only stores I think I would have liked to see are a book store and a game store. Possibly a toy store.
I did this game with no actives and enjoyed the hell out of every second. Just relax and put stuff away. Hope to see some updates or maybe new map in the future. Bigger Mall? More shops added? Some Ideas I had that would be fun to add: Linking music to the speakers in the mall like Spotify or custom track music, the in game is fine but does get dull once u hear it 20 times over. A mode with no actives? Mode with items not around the store just everywhere so you have to travel the mall? (achievement for no active used would be nice for the hardcore) Better signs with the item image on it would help find things more faster. Multiplayer would be fun to add but I know that is hard to do. (maybe a feature making co op harder but also working together helps the process) I got way more ideas and QOL that would that would love to talk about but do not want to add more to a plate. Hope to see more! (I will pay double to a new mall/bigger mall)
