S.A.N.D.Y is a post-apocalyptic WALL-E cleaner, where she does her best to restore the beach back to its glory. While it is kind of cozy it's also atmospherically and environmentally dark. 10/10 depressing dystopian cigarette butts.

Really fantastic and chill experience, that knows exactly what vibe its going for and achieves it. Solid 90 minutes of chill, great balance of saving cute animals and scary unknown abominations. Also love Unreal 4, goes to show that older tools are still perfectly capable of creating captivating experiences.

Took about 80 minutes to play. It's the "lawnmower" style cleaning game, where you clean the terrain by driving over it. I think by nature these games aren't very long, because there's only so much you can do with a lawnmower simulator before it either becomes boring or you have to come up with some crazy ways to iterate on the concept. Still, it is a short game, so keep that in mind if that matters to you. I'm fine with it. S.A.N.D.Y. has an atmosphere and tone I don't often see in this kind of game, which is what drew me to it. The game is quiet, lonely. The environment is strange and sometimes uncanny. We have jagged models that remind me (very fondly) of older games. Everything is grimy and visibility is low. The aesthetic is overall good, which goes a long way in a genre where the player's main job is broadly just to hold W. The robot you play as is very...Wall-E. I liked the old timey music and how the robot would sometimes "sing" along. Some of the cutscenes were a bit long (such as the one for finding the microphone), but overall they were charming so I don't hold it against the game. I also liked sorting the trash. I can see some people not caring about that part, but I thought it was a nice break and I enjoyed getting to rotate the models and look at them. Nice sound and UI design for this part. My main criticisms of the game come down to two points: First, it's a little buggy and could have used more QA testing for "fringe" scenarios that might happen. For example, I happened the pick up the crab at the same time the game registered that area to be "finished", which led to the game kicking me into Map 2 and unceremoniously deleting the crab from orbit with no acknowledgment of its existence. The game seemed to believe I had "rescued" the crab (as it was added to my Tab menu), but I was never shown its cutscene (assuming it has one), nor was I allowed to put it into the machine and actually help it. Which in turn also prevented me from unlocking its achievement. This to me is unacceptable, but admittedly not gamebreaking or anything. Would be nice if the game had some kind of safety measure for cases like this. The second thing is the amount of beach you need to clean before the game accepts it as "finished" and clears the rest for you. This is a mechanic (common to these types of games) which makes it so that you don't actually need to clean 100% of the area—it's meant to free you from the obligation of needing to catch every sliver and hard-to-see speck of dirt, and is a nice QoL feature that I do think is mandatory. However, it feels TOO generous in this game. To me, the most satisfying part of this type of cleaning game is circling my way in from the edges: getting every nook and cranny around the walls, meticulously circling my way in, until only a sliver of dirt remains in the middle, and then driving over it in one go...! It's very satisfying to me. But in this game, the percentage you need to clean before the game calls it "done" is too generous, which means the game steals this satisfaction from me on every section by wiping a very large chunk from the middle. It ends up discouraging meticulous cleaning. I began to clean sloppily on purpose, in an attempt to "save" the more satisfying part at the end—and even then it still eats too much at the end! I came to dislike finishing the maps, which is a bummer. That should be the most satisfying part! ...Well, I realize that's a niche type of thing to care about, though. Still, it's a niche type of genre, LOL. Well, suffice to say, I would've liked the "required completion" percentage to be adjusted. If the dev could tweak this, I think I wouldn't have any real complaints left at all. Overall I enjoyed the game and I think its aesthetic is compelling. I'd recommend it if you just want to chill out and clean a desolate beach for ~90 minutes. Don't we all?

Lovely little game! Loved the demo, very zen little game. It is short, but it has some varied content so it doesn't get monotonous while still being soothing as you clean the sand. Has a few minor bugs, if you don't return the animals you save before finishing that section, they will vanish on you (I couldn't help but hold on to my little friends, so this did happen to me) and there are a few camera perspective issues for cutscenes and the end, but this did not at all interfere with my enjoyment of this fun little piece, and I'm sure they can be ironed out very soon. HIghly recommend if you love soothing, cleaning games! Also, I would love if some more maps were added, whether as a future update or a DLC, though I will be replaying again in the future regardless.
