April 2025
This review does have potential spoilers, especially if you didn't play the first game. I do highly suggest playing the series in order for this game to make sense. Though if you don't want to play the first game there's plenty of stories and explanation of what happened in BM1 in this game. BUT- still a good idea to start with BM1. I guess after multiple replays and almost 50 hours I forgot to review this game. I will warn, that if you play with "Advanced Graphics on" you'll get some graphical bugs mainly with character movements but it is nothing game breaking. This game also handles being minimized very well. There are a couple of plot holes in this game that are answered at the beginning of BM3. This game is decently long, and honestly very well done. Can easily get 10+ hours of gameplay. I've replayed the game about 6 times now so I can beat the game in about 7 hours. It's a very beautifully crafted game especially with the graphics, and yes when it comes to Darren he just might need some getting used to. I like the whole series but this one is my favorite. It is also one of my favorite all time P&C games- being on my top 5. I will say that this game does steer more away from the creepy atmosphere and story of the first game. It's still a very dark game with hauntingly beautiful atmosphere. This game is about Darren and the Gordon curse being passed on after Samuel from BM1. This game is more of a twist and this plays more as a build up for Darrens story and the continuation into BM3. Darren is from Boston, which plays into him having a Boston accent but it can sound almost forced(?) so to speak and can be a bit irritating at times. I originally wasn't fond of his voice acting but it grew on me as the game went on. He is very cocky, sarcastic, rebellious, and can be really annoying, but he's not that bad. Especially in the third game. He just takes some time to get used to really. Even I didn't like him at first, but he's a good character. As for the game itself, the story is good, and as I said above it's more of a build up of Darren's story and a continuation of the Gordon curse from the first game. It's done very well, and this game is quite the ride but is still a great addition to the series. But the 'original' curse story line does pick up more toward the end and into the third game. This game does suffer a bit from moments where the music is loud and you can barely hear characters speak. There are a lot of obnoxious moments in the game but it's still a good game. The ending is decently paced and doesn't end as 'abruptly' as some people say. There's a lot of steps to do what you need to do, but then you pick it up where you left off in BM3. Everything about this game is good, even great for the most part, the story, the sounds/atmospheric sounds, the music, the story, and the characters. I highly recommend this series.

Black Mirror II had big shoes to fill as the sequel to the original adventure. With a different developer the game took a new approach—modernized visuals, fresh characters, and a setting that gradually ties back to the chilling mystery of the first game. While some of the animations feel a bit silly, the game still manages to build an eerie atmosphere. And despite its slower pace, some of the death scenarios genuinely caught me off guard(actually making me jump more than once). From a gameplay perspective, Black Mirror II refines the point-and-click mechanics with quality-of-life features. The ability to highlight all interactive objects makes puzzle-solving more accessible, and the option to double click at the corner of the screen makes walking through sections of the game faster, saving time without breaking immersion. It may not perfectly recapture the original’s magic of Black Mirror I but it is still an interesting continuation of the story and a solid point-and-click horror experience.

I really enjoyed the game - most of the puzzles could be solved logically if you paid attention to what was said and to your surroundings - I played the easy mode just in case I'd want to skip a puzzle, but they were all doable it is a little gory, so be warned if you are squeamish, there are murders and multiple deaths for the protagonist - save often! all in all a fun game, though - I highly recommend it - for me, Black Mirror III awaits :)

Black Mirror II, builds on its predecessor in every way. It continues the story of the haunted castle known as Black Mirror, but from the next generation. Some characters from the first game return, but having aged significantly. Many loose narrative ends are tied up quite eloquently, and we revisit many of our beloved locations: Willow Creek, Black Mirror, Wales. The graphics and art style are gorgeous (sort of reminds me of LiS, but it predates it by over a decade). Compared to the first game, this one is much smoother, no bugs/glitches etc. And it retains the good parts of the first too: the puzzles are still high quality, the difficulty is quite sharp (something good), and the story is riveting. I have not yet played the third title, but these first two games have one of the most compelling 'haunted castle / hereditary curse / occultism' story arc I've seen in a long while. Most modern P&C games do not have such a complex and well written story. [Süper oyun, ilkinden her açıdan daha iyi (ki o da baya güzeldi.)]

Black Mirror: impressive dive into mental illness and the supernatural starring a narrator who is poleaxed at the slightest obstacle Black Mirror 2: an extra from Good Will Hunting larping as the world's least charming or believable detective this is actually intentional and nobody in-game believes him either lmfao Much better pacing than the first game. There are plenty of subtle (and not so subtle) callbacks to the original for attentive players, beyond the actual narrative. The plot is continued in a fantastic way that kind of slow-burns at first and seems very disconnected but once things start to connect it just accelerates from there. Black Mirror 2 and 3 should have been combined into a single game to be quite honest, this one does end on a bit of a cliffhanger.
