This is a SUPER well-made, solid game. Someone basically sat down, said "I want more games like Persona 5", and then put in the effort into actually doing that, which is VERY commendable. That's a lot of effort and hard work into making what you said you wanted more of, instead of simply complaining that there just isn't anything else. Everything is incredibly smooth. Animations are well-done and smooth, the music is exactly what you'd expect out of a game that's basically Persona 5, and the graphics are beautiful. If you're put off by pixel art, I seriously, SERIOUSLY recommend you get over it, because you're locking yourself out of some SERIOUSLY good games. If you've got a hankering for more Persona games with that style of storytelling, then this is exactly what you're looking for. I'm only about 3 hours in, but I feel like this is enough to kind of give folks exactly what they're looking for. I can already tell the game's going to open up with tons of things to do inbetween solving Bloomtown mysteries and disappearances. I think it'll be a good time. Heads up, for those who care, because I don't judge: You make a contract with a demon called Lucifer in the beginning. It's meant to parallel the contracts you make in Persona, but it is with Lucifer. I don't know how that'll play out yet, but that's a thing.

There's so much to love about Bloomtown. Essentially, it plays like a Persona game (and the premise itself is very akin to Persona 4), but the world it inhabits is more like Earthbound. The setup is that of Gravity Falls, where two siblings are forced to spend the summer with their curmudgeonly elderly relative in a small town where weird, dangerous things are happening. And finally, there are thematic elements that line up with Stephen King's IT, where horrific things are happening to the children but all the adults choose to turn a blind eye, since acknowledging the darkness in the town would be admitting that the darkness comes from them. All of these things are influences that Bloomtown wears proudly on its sleeve, but the game never feels like a knockoff or a ripoff of any of them. It's able to stand on its own as a game, and I honestly probably enjoyed it more than I did Persona 4.

Gorgeous pixel art and animations; especially all the demons. The music and aesthetics are great; and some of the dialogue is legit funny. Characters can talk a little oddly sometimes but I chalk it up to localization quirks and it doesn't really detract. Doesn't really feel like it's set in the 1960s, though... I understand not wanting to say 70s or 80s to avoid being called a Stranger Things copycat (even though it's really not). Just don't expect an accurate time period vibe. They shoulda just gone with '19xx' like Secret of Evermore did back in the day. ;) Monster catching feels fiddly, especially early on. I feel it could be tweaked to be more forgiving / easier to Down a monster without also accidentally killing it. But once you get a feel for it and can craft items to help do it, it's not that bad; just time consuming. I like a lot of the monsters but trying to farm a couple of each to level them is kind of a chore. Catching and leveling (Fusing) demons gets to be feeling kind of grindy, because of the above reasons. Overall I liked the day/time mechanic, ot helps spread out your activities and gives things a sense of time, though sometimes it can be frustrating to have to wait to get some things done, and it isn't really clear ingame that there isn't actually a time limit to get things done (though you can fail quests, it's not by taking too many days to finish them or anything). Overall this is a pretty good game. It borrows a bit from Persona and a bit from classic SNES games in terms of vibe and while it's not perfect it's a pretty solid experience.

This game makes me happy. It makes me long and pine and feel nostalgia for a time I did not exist (set in the 80s, I am a 90s baby and moreso a 00's child at the age of these characters). This game is a lovely blend of diet Persona in pixel art and Stranger things. I miss friends I never made. I want to return to a summer I never had. This game is art.

I enjoy its storyline, reminding me of the TV series called Strange Things. I like its artistic style. The strategic battling style is acceptable, not boring. It leads me to think about how to deal more damage. I searched online about how to subdue / capture demons and how to improve stats. A lot of elements in this game is worth my time to dig deeper. I'm not a native English speaker. Please forgive me if I wrote something above that you cannot comprehend.
