Good fun, Tedious middle section of the game with some jank mixed in. Great art style which does carry bits of the game but enough content to justify playing

#BULD was a very flawed, but still very fun, interesting, and memorable game. It is a dungeon-crawler, beat-em-up, puzzle action adventure game akin to old school Zelda games with an early 2000's cartoon aesthetic. The story follows Becky Brewster as she starts high school in a new town and gets embroiled in a Vampire Apocalypse/Social media Tech company conspiracy. The biggest positives are this game's animation, art direction, and aethestics. The animation is completely flawless, both in gameplay and cutscenes. Everyone has fun/unique character designs and the design of the town and it's various locales are pleasantly detailed. The gameplay, while in need of some polish, is solid and punchy enough to engage, and theres plenty of variety to be had in unique minigames and set-pieces. However, I agree with many people's criticisms that the combat lacks a bit of polish, and the chapter structure is a bit off-putting. There were occasional bugs and frustrating moments that didn't make me outright quit the game, but felt like severe oversight nonetheless. Sometimes the game has trouble explaining certain mechanics, whether it involve new enemies or bosses you fight, possible missable sidequests, or even what certain combat upgrades are supposed to do. The game has lots of little individual gameplay problems, both the result of poor structuring or bugs, that aren't huge deals on their own, but can build up and negativley impact some people's gameplay experience. That being said, the game's overall charm and sense of humor is what pushed me to keep playing this game. It has a fun story with twists and turns (though the pacing can throw you for a loop even then) that kept me excited for what came next. The jokes range from decent dad-puns to topical commentary relevant to today's world, emphasizing anti-capitalism, global warming, and the state of modern social media. I am enamored with the game's visual's and charm, and although I am not positive a Zelda-like dungeon crawler fit super well for it, it was a fun game that makes me hopeful for the studio's potential next project! If they can iron out the polish and tweak some of the game design, I think a sequel would go really far!

Getting the obvious out of the way, the game is gorgeous, the 90s and early 2000s cartoon vibes and themes are on point, and the animation is so smooth i want to die. The game knows this, so one of the few developments to your gameplay, of which there aren't many, is just adding different animations to your actions (battling, that is). Gameplay wise, the game is focused on puzzle solving, exploring, and some action battling using a couple of acquired tools, treating some of the fights as puzzles too, which ALSO fits the cartoon themes as it reminds me of the licensed cartoon flash games on official sites which were also puzzles most of the time. The characters feel extremely natural too, they interact and talk exactly like kids that age would, I was surprised how fun and on point it was, and how cozy it got due to it. Also it has an entire postgame side-adventure free dlc, which is very generous and perfect since the only thing lacking from the character's interactions was.....more of it. Let's see the negatives though. Exploration is one of the key funtimes of the game, encouraged to look around to find new puzzles or new people to talk to and take pics with, as well as do side quests. Despite that, the character isn't that fast, so there is a LOT and I mean A LOT of idle walking, unfortunately. The puzzle battling gets rather old relatively fast, especially so when the enemies respawn when re-entering an area, which you will be doing lots of due to mentioned exploring. But the worst crime of this game is being completely linear chapter progressive, and never allowing you to load into a chapter during a gameplay. If you missed a side quest or a puzzle or a collectible during a chapter, you cannot return to it once you have finished the chapter. You would have to play the game all over again, giving the game essentially 0 replayability due to how long it is. Also the home menu is like, just some unused art? Dunno what the deal with that is, couldve just made a fun more animated and accurate home menu, I'm sure it wouldn't take that much time and effort for the very first screen players will see that represents the game as a whole. Despite all that, the game's length offers relative depth and definitely plenty of funtime, and it's truly an experience worth the price!

I'm surprised this game's not getting more attention. The Hanna-Barbera toony artwork is smooth like butter, gameplay is generally easy enough to learn and there's quite a decent amount of content and animation. You could buy this for your kid and it'll be a blast for them to be honest. Or yourself if you like what's in store. It's a fun game, definitely should be checked out.
