The Review: Borderlands is a good game. You should at least try it. Now, the main reason I am writing this. No, the game is not spyware. It’s a misunderstanding based on updates to the terms of service. What happened was the games publisher, Take Two Interactive, updated the terms of their end user license recently. Several actors in the Borderlands community misread these changes as them turning the currently released games in the franchise into literal spyware. This is not true. The games are perfectly safe to run and your data will not be stolen. The codebase for the games is unchanged, all the update did is add an advertisement for the upcoming fourth game and you have to agree to the new EUL before you can play online. That said if you feel uncomfortable playing due to this controversy, I understand. I post this only to clarify the situation and will update as needed. QnA: Will the game spy on me? – NO. The codebase is unchanged from before the update. The game itself will not collect any information. Will I need a Kernal Level Anti-Cheat which will spy on me? - NO. You will not need to install any anti-cheat to play Borderlands. The update did not change this. Will I be banned from multiplayer or sued by Take Two for using mods? - NO. The game is a 10+ year old co-op shooter. Take Two does not care if you mod it. This part of the EUL is relevant for modern releases and in active development projects such as Grand Theft Auto Online where cheating via mods is a very real problem. Besides, this part of the EUL is targeted at cheat creators, not individual users who use mods. Will I be banned from multiplayer for using foul language? - NO. Again, this is a 10+ year old game. Take Two does not care if you trash talk your teammates. Again, this part of the EUL is relevant to more modern projects. Still, please respect your teammates. What data does the new EUL cover? - Emails, phone numbers, username, name, IP address, and passwords if relevant. If this sounds concerning, know that this is standard for many EULs where you need to create an account. You provided all this information except the latter to Steam when you created your account, Take Two just asks Steam to look at this information. The password clause is only for your Gearbox Shift account, it will not steal banking passwords or your Steam password.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition Enhanced is a fantastic remaster of the beloved 2009 game, bringing it back to life with stunning graphical improvements and quality-of-life updates. The enhanced textures, improved lighting, and better shadows make the game look more vibrant and detailed than ever before. The addition of a field of view (FOV) slider and a mini-map greatly enhances the gameplay experience, making navigation and aiming much smoother. The inclusion of all the DLCs means you get even more content to enjoy, including the highly acclaimed "Secret Armory of General Knoxx" and "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution," which add significant hours of fun and challenge. The new legendary weapons and the rebalanced loot system keep the excitement high, ensuring that every playthrough is unique and rewarding. Overall, the Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition Enhanced is a must-play for both newcomers and returning Vault Hunters. It's a perfect blend of nostalgia and innovation, offering a fresh yet familiar experience that stands the test of time.

When i think of Borderlands the first things that comes in my mind are the distinctive look and cartoonish art style, the funny robot and the looter shooter genre which you either love or hate.. The remastered version of the original Borderlands offers visual and gameplay improvements but the best quality of life enhancement is the addition of mini map. But in general it's not so different of the original Borderlands. The sense of humor is present in witty one liners but also sarcasm and absurd situations, the quirky narrative and the setting of Pandora is great. If you like comic books you'll love this. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3331399771 The randomization of loot and the co-op multiplayer encourage multiple playthroughs, the different classes and their skill trees made experiment with different strategies and playstyles and i absolutely love this in video games. I really liked the boss battles with their funny designs and unique mechanics..i recommend to stay away from any form of cheating playing this. The game is difficult but if you complete side missions and find the right strategies and weapons the experience is far more rewarding. Borderlands was never about the story or the single player experience, but it doesn't disappoint either..The vault hunter theme made me dream of that moment of opening the vault ,if you like treasure hunting you know what i'm talking about.. Also if you finished this game you know why i'm mad and disappointed of the ending. The missing links are found in dlcs or other titles from the series and if you're a cave dweller like me and never played those with a big grim on my face i say it's time to play them all. If you like this game i also recommend playing the Mad Max game as an alternative or watch the movies. Pros: -Improvements -Fun with friends -Great dlcs -Cartoon Art style Cons: -Grindy and difficult if you're under level treshhold so either do all the side content or play co-op with friends My review score Story - 8 Gameplay-9 Graphics-9 Sound - 8 Overall - 8.5

Borderlands 1 is shockingly great. Having played up to 3 I really wasn't expecting much at all going into 1 but it is really fun. I was blown away by how little jank there was, sure it's missing a fair bit of qol compared to the sequels, but there really was little to no awkwardness to be found at all. Apart from that there were 2 things that really stood out to me. The first was how good the gunplay felt, don't get me wrong it's not as good as BL3 gunplay, but it's still really satisfying and fun. I don't know what it is but it could be the more down-to-earth nature of the gameplay, you don't really have all of these guns that do all of these crazy things while also filling the screen with so many particle effects you can no longer see anything. It's less flashy than its sequels but it compensates by making the guns feel more weighty and realistic. Guns are less accurate, have greater recoil, have slower fire rates and worse reload times (at first anyway) but as a result feel more like actual guns and are very satisfying to use in a way that is different to the sequels where you just press a button and everything immediately explodes (which is also quite fun and satisfying). The second is the tone and atmosphere. I've only known Borderlands for its wacky humour and over-the-top nature. so it was a pretty big surprise to see such a gritty and grim Pandora. Of course it still has its fair share of cheeky jokes, but that really comes secondary to the feral and raw feeling that BL1 gives. The game really makes you feel like Pandora is a desolate wasteland where death is hiding around every corner and under every rock. Where everyone is scrapping together whatever they can from the junk of the mining and military corporations that used to and still operate there. That there really is nothing to find there but despair and desperation. It's honestly great. Lastly I just want to touch on the difficulty. It starts off pretty tough, but becomes pretty easy before long. I managed to reach the max level and beat the raid boss on the hardest difficulty without following a build guide. So yeah, it definitely seems easier compared to its sequels for the most part.

[02.12.2023 - 11.08.2024] So it's being months playing the game from time to time, have maxed out 3 characters out of 4 to the max limit. Left the 4th one, once I will ever want to come back and finish it for the last time. It's being enjoyable. Really. Finished this game 6 times from A to Z actually, finished all achievements (Platinum'd the game - took me 186h for) and if I had to rate the game as it is, I'd definitely score the game to a solid 9/10. However the game itself it's split to 3, (basically 4 DLCs - the last one is really really mid). So, the base game 9/10. The very, very first DLC which is "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned" solid 8/10. The second one "Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot" SOLID 5/10. The third one "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx" well, 7/10. And the last one, for me the most enjoyable at some Grindy point "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution" 9/10. Enjoy. Worth the effort, money, time. Friends. PS. Played and Finished the game on the Steam Deck OLED.
