There are so many valid reasons to leave a negative review, instead every review rags on the game for something that was entirely out of the developers control that they literally implemented and were told to take it out. You need the BoxRoom Wizard and the game will pull all your game boxart with no further effort or input. YES it should be in the game; it literally was but Steam told them to take that out so it's just not a valid reason to negative review the game, like complaining about the bus driver coz the bridge collapsed. If you don't want to install another app for one game then check back another time or just don't get it. Do like 10 seconds of due dilligence to find out some very accessible information that you need BoxRoom Wizard to do what the game SHOULD do by default but CAN'T because of beaurocracy. Get that here https://pantaloon-io.itch.io/boxroom-box-wizard Here's my list of actually valid reasons to leave a negative reviews: -Doors behave extremely uncomfortably. Placing a door creates a 'room' which can then be expanded. I have already seen another reviewer do the same thing I did which was break every wall then realize after the fact that the door system means you shouldn't do this. They also can't be rotated and can be a pain to get around when open. -Windows can't be placed on the world edge and if you find this out by attempting to, enjoy moving everything back one square -The catalogue pages are extremely sluggish, there's 4 catalogues when there should really only be 2 at most, there are some furniture overlaps between the magazines and I always open the wrong one and have to paaaainfully slowly navigate to it. Like two of them have different types of shelving. Flip a coin if the one you want is in the red pill pamphlet or the blue pill pamphlet. -No way to stand a box on its bottom other than placing on a shelf, and there are lots of times when you'd want this in a decoration game; such as displaying it on its own shelf cover-out. -Every carpet is hideous lol -Problems with how games are displayed 1) BoxRoom seems to miss how many hours I have in a lot of my games. Just says 0 hours, for stuff I know I have way more. 2) BoxRoom sorts genre's weirdly. 80% of my games seem to be given the action genre and sometimes it very much is not an action game lol. So I hope you don't wanna sort by genre cuz they're all going in the action shelf lol. 3) Some games are just missing. I think I heard them say it was happening with some free games. One of my favorite games is called Haven and Hearth. Well Boxroom says no to H&H. -Two bugs exist that lose your progress; 1) If you have a big library the game loads faster than the cover arts, so half the game covers are just gone. You can create a dud file, load that, then load the first one again to fix this, but it probably shouldn't occur at all preferably. 2) I loaded in my boxroom after my initial playtime and many, many games were just straight up missing from the shelves. Back in the packing boxes. Seemingly at random. They still had their assigned poster frames so I know it passed my hands. Like Ashen. I know I sorted Ashen, I put it in 1st place on my "Worst Games I've Ever Played" shelf, but there it was back in the sorting box. Kinda unacceptable for a big sorting project game like this. This is the reason I stopped trying to organize my library, and the reason I'm not coming back til it's fixed, and the reason I'd be leaving a negative review if all the actual negative reviews weren't hot nonsense. -There is just a whole slew of discomfort with the building tools 1) Sometimes I try and rotate with the mousewheel as its a feature in some sims I play; this brings up the tool wheel, the object I was placing disappears, and you have to wiggle the wheel back into the right place to get it to show back up. 2) There are phantom invalid placements. Like a lot. Nothing's there, game says nah nah you can't put that there think of the dustmite's feelings that's his turf. This is the type of game that should just let me place it wherever I want, if it's clipping idc it's my room it doesn't effect anyone but me it doesn't unbalance the game just lemme clip all I want to!!! Let us hold a button to ignore this red ghost placement plz. 3) You're not allowed to place anything but games on the shelves and there are plenty of times I would like to use something to fill the shelf space. like the boombox. Or an amogus 4) Some shelves are very much not flush against the wall and the precise placement tool to do so has no microgrid and everything gets wonky REAL fast. 5) Some items, shelves especially, the black metal shelves especially especially, don't like being placed next to items without first being moved inside the hitbox of that item then out again. -Things I'd like to see 1) Shape tools. Let us use primitive shapes to build our own stuff, maybe even our own shelves. Workshop functionality on this one, please. 2) Model importing. Voices of the void's got model importing. I wanna put game models on shelves. 3) Modern furniture, I know the game's trying to capture the 90s aesthetic but they didn't have cyberpunk 2077 in the 90s, lemme put a flatscreen on the wall lol 4) Custom text. 5) Naming shelves, or some kind of signage 6) Add a toilet, preferably with a slot for a game, so I can put Ashen in the toilet where it belongs. But despite all this, the negative reviews here are kinda frustrating; you can't blame the sporting event for the rain, just like you can't blame them for a lack of a feature they literally had working and was forced to axe. Devs have said they're hopeful steam reconsiders one day and I agree, I hope so too, this game is too unique an idea to get downvoted for beaurocracy both unwanted and non-negotiable by the devs. I love the idea of this game, it's cheap, it's charming, it's pure nostalgia fumes going through my old games, and if some of these issues are fixed I'm coming back later for sure. But losing half my progress, with no promise that wasn't gonna happen again later, was a bit of a kick in the butt lol But big ups for the caves of qud mushroom I can place, i love caves of qud mushroom.
