STEAM DECK EXPERIENCE [ LCD, SteamOS 3.6, Proton 9.0 ] -SUMMARY- 📈Performance [🟢] Stable 60 FPS, runs well as is and doesn't require anything specific 🕹️Controls [🟡] Plays well enough with the default scheme, but cannot be adjusted to your preferences in the game settings 🆎Text/UI [🟢] All text and UI elements are perfectly legible, has an option for larger text size 🔋Power [🟢] ~11W 📶Offline Mode [🟢] Does not require internet connection and can be launched and played entirely offline 📄Additional Notes Runs in 16:9 aspect ratio, has an option to stretch to fit the screen Played with the following configuration: ⚙️Brightness: ~50% ⚙️Speakers: ~30% ⚙️WiFi: On ⚙️BT: Off ⚙️Rumble: Off ⚙️Haptics: On (7dB) ⚡Framerate: 60 ⚡Tearing: Off ⚡HRS: Off ⚡TDP: No limit ⚡GPU: Auto ⚡S.Mode: Auto ⚡S.Filter: Linear 🛠️WiFi Power Management: Off 🛠️Updated Fan Control: On 🛠️[BIOS] UMA: 1G 🛠️[BIOS] Voltage Offset (all): -50mV ⚠️Stock 512GB SSD ⚠️No microSD ⚠️No software mods/plugins ⚠️No hardware mods ⚠️No external devices Stable 60 FPS , did not experience any performance issues at all, but it did hang up once during a transition somewhere mid-game, probably was just a random game hiccup. Drains around 10-11W . Aspect ratio is 16:9, so black bars are present, there is an option to stretch it if you really want black bars gone at the cost of the entire art being, well, stretched. Controller controls cannot be changed, only keyboard is adjustable, so you'll have to use Steam Controller Settings (accessed by pressing the Steam button on the left) if you want to change some buttons to your liking. UI and text are perfectly legible and there are a couple options to make text bigger and more contrasty if needed. Thoughts: Combining an "old era" style point&click adventure with a beat 'em up may sound absolutely ridiculous, but it works out fairly well. Overall a fun experience to dive into and explore through, on the surface it appears to be more of a straightforward and strictly linear game, but surprisingly has depth to it with consequences to actions, definitely something you'd want to play through more than once to see different outcomes. Puzzles are present, can solve stuff normally like your usual LucasArts-like adventure, but can also just punch a lot of things, taking brute forcing to a new level.

I was a tester on the previous game by Fabrice Breton, which was a pure point-and-click adventure game, but I was hesitant to buy this one because of the "Beat 'em up" tag. Well, I can tell that I was totally wrong in my suspicions: "BROK the InvestiGator" is a great adventure game, indeed! The "action" part is actually quite fun and not difficult at all, so I ended up not skipping any of the battles. The game is even much better than "Demetrios": the setting is quite unique, the story is interesting, and the characters are appealing. My biggest complaint is about the gameplay design in relation to the endings: I completed the game in 8 hours while trying to do my best at the exams - and, well, I got a less favorable ending with the whole chapter 6 gone missing! That does not make much sense. The game welcomes you to replay a solid part of it - but it is a story-based adventure game, after all, so it is not so interesting to replay it again and again trying to reach other of the eleven endings.... Not the best decision, I'd say. Sitll, it is a very nice game that could well be recommended!

When I picked this up, I expected a slightly silly game with some decent action and good puzzles. What I did not expect was an incredible story of found family, dystopia, tragedy, and having to make some tough decisions along the way. I only got one of the possible 11 endings to this game, and I am eager to go back, make new decisions, and find out more about what's really going on.

I love this game. I bought it looking to play another game with an alligator in it, yet I didn't even expect liking it as much, given that I'm not a fan of beat-'em-ups. I ended up getting a very charming story game with fairly satisfying fighting mechanics. As I finished parts of the game, I realized the breadth of options that the game gives you to progress. You truly can choose how you want to play. It's also complete and really well done. The art is noticeably hand-made, because most of the work is done by a single person. Even then it has full voice acting , it's localized into several languages, it has local coop that you can play online through Steam (without someone else having to have a copy). The author is pretty active online, and they regularly update the game to include fanart of the game.

Recommend this game is not enough. More like I implore everyone who loves adventure games to play Brok the Investigator. The voice acting, artwork, world building, and storytelling are amazing. Easily one of my favorite games I ever played. Lots of laughs.
