I don't want to get into too many details here as I intend to write a more in-depth review for Buggos 2. If you enjoyed Buggos 2 then you will enjoy Buggos and vice versa. Some sequels change everything about the game until it's barely recognisable from the original, such as was the case with the Frostpunk series. Buggos 2 has some differences and even a few improvements over the base game, but it still feels true to the original. The Buggos series of games is one of those very rare 'play as the monster/villain' games where you play as the titular buggos, a very comedic version of the classic sci-fi hivemind bug swarm, as you try to conquer a human colony. There are a few different bugs to choose from, and numerous upgrades to choose from, some that improve all buggos, others that improve only certain buggos. With every victory you always feel like you're progressing forward, until you hit the next major challenge such as a new enemy unit or building being introduced. The best gameplay is in the final missions when you feel like an absolute boss taking on the full might of humanity, which on the hardest difficulty is extremely challenging and unforgiving. I've just played Buggos 2, and I'm now going back to replay the original again, it's truly a great series and the Developer is an absolute pleasure to deal with. They're always keeping on top of any bugs 😏 or complaints, and remaining open to community feedback regarding improvements or new features, which is something that is always good to see.

I saw a game that was like 3.19. It fit what I like, and I thought it could be a fun game. I have now finished the campaign 3 times and earned all the achievements. There are still challenges but even if I don't play those, I got nearly 30 hours out of this game for only 3.19. I loved it. It was so good. There is a sequel and I can't wait for it.

At 80% off this is an easy yes. This game isn't meant to be taken seriously, it's fun and simple. Only a handful of hours of content campaign wise, and yes it's repetitive, but if you need something simple to switch your brain off to in between whatever else you're doing this fits the bill. Not much else to say, the game does what it says on the tin, play maps, gain points and evolve your swarm, rinse repeat.

Randomly addictive. When I'm too tired to think and just want some wanton, low-graphics destruction to give my brain some serotonin, this is the game I keep coming back to. I like to pretend this is how the bugs in Helldivers feel.

My first RTS experience and I am really surprised!! Love the evolution tree that let us upgrade and strategies depending on our playstyle! It makes me want to start playing Command & Conquer after finishing this one! Great introduction!
